Lads we've started a ladies football team and I've been asked to do the teamsheet so it can be printed before every game.   Two questions, did something not come in recently whereby you don't need to translate the names to Irish?  If I do need to put them in Irish can anyone post a link to a useful site which would help or even email me a document with irish names listed. PM me if you want to email something my way

General discussion / Extending a wireless network
March 13, 2009, 05:27:41 PM
I have two buildings about 100m apart.  One building has a broadband connection and I want to extend this wireless network to the other building.  I got a wireless n router which was the most powerfull one maplin stocked but the signal just about made it to the other building and wouldn't penetrate the outside wall.  There are electric lines in the way and shed which partially blocks the line of sight.

Anyone any ideas of a setup I could install to get round this problem.  I thought about putting a directional antenna on the building with the broadband router and a wireless access point in the other building to bring the signal in.

Cheers for any suggestions

I'm getting near to starting my first fix electrical and was wondering about TV's and streaming and thought I'd throw out some ideas and see what the experts on here think.

Windows Media Centre to hold music and videos which could be streamed to TV's throughout the house.  What device would I need at each TV to convert the stream so it can be played on the TV.  Should I run Cat6 cable to each TV point back to my patch panel?

Surround sound – Can I run generic cable and connect my speakers?  What about embedding the speakers in the ceilings or walls so they aren't taking up space?

Internet Access – Is there any device which allow me to browse the web from my tv

TV channels – Is there a freeview type package where I can get RTE and TG4 in the North.  I don't know that I'd get the value out of any Sky package.

Future proofing??  If it was your house what would you be putting in?

That should be enough to get you started...

General discussion / Projector to connect to PC
November 07, 2008, 10:44:21 AM
I'm looking a good projector to connect to a PC.  The room it will be used in isn't the biggest so I need something that can operate 4 or 5m back from the screen, I believe they call this a short throw projector.  I'd like resolution of 1280x1024 or better.  Have we any projector experts who can recommned a good one?

The Tyrone v Down game isn't being shown live on the TV but is being shown live on the net.  We are considering relaying the video from the computer in the club office to the big screen in the bar.  What is the quality like?  Is the stream reliable?  Is there commentary on it?

General discussion / Cloghue Roundabout Closure
May 09, 2008, 01:54:39 PM
I heard on 5FM that they are closing the Cloghue roundabout for 20 minute spells to facilitate blasting.  This will start on Monday and continue for 3 months.  They would hardly close it during rush hour would they?  Is that house the looks down on the roundabout going to be demolished?

Can anyone give me McNamee and McGuinness in Irish please?  Was it passed at congress that team sheets don't have to be in Irish any more?

Fermanagh 3  8   6
Down      4  3   6
Limerick  3  3   3
Louth     4  3   2
Longford  4  -1  2
Sligo     4  -13 2
Leitrim   4  -14 2

Remaining Fixtures

An Dún v Luimneach
Sligeach v Fear Manach
Longfort v An Lú
Loch Garman v Liatroim

Fear Manach v Loch Garman
Luimneach v Longfort
Liatroim v An Dún
An Lú v Sligeach

An Dún v Fear Manach
Luimneach v Liatroim
Longfort v Sligeach
Loch Garman v An Lú

Fermanagh v Limerick is oustanding from round 3

It looks like its Wexfords division to loose, apart from the game in Fermanagh they have a handy enough run in.  The wheels seem to have completley off the Sligo wagon, O'Hara sent off again.  The Louth Sligo game in the second last round will relegate one or the other more than likely.  Louth have to go to Wexford in their last, they could be in trouble.  From a Down point of view I'd be hoping to take the points against Limerick in Newry and Leitrim away to leave a winner takes all decider against Fermanagh on the last day in Newry.

General discussion / Timber Frame Houses
March 12, 2008, 09:06:46 AM
I have a sales guy from a timber frame company calling on Friday to try and sell me one of these timber frame houses.  I'm trying to get an idea of the advantages/disadvatanges of going Timber Frame, I have listed them below as I have heard.  Feel free to add more or dispell the ones I have.

Advantages
Quick Build time
Easy to heat
Supposed to be cheaper

Disadvantages
Noise carries further as internal wall aren't block built
House might not last as long
Is a timber frame house worth as much as the equivalent concrete house?
If you decide to alter/extend the house you can be limited in what you can do due to the timber frame design?
You have to know where all your plugs etc. are to go at desgin time, you can decide upon this much later with a concrete build

General discussion / Sterling against Euro
March 10, 2008, 05:25:25 PM
http://www.x-rates.com/d/GBP/EUR/graph120.html

As the chart shows the Euro has been getting a lot stronger against the pound since around September.  Are there any financial experts on board who can give us a prediction of whats going to happen next?

Has anyone installed a Geothermal heating system?  I've heard some mixed reports on it.  I've heard that there are some cowboys installing it and people are getting poor heat from it.  Other people have said that the savings on oil are eaten up by the electric costs of running the pump.

I've been advised not to put underfloor heating in the bedrooms as radiators are better because you can turn them off quickly if you are too hot.  Anyone have an opinion?

I see some crazy (name escapes me) in the Newry and Mourne council has called for Pairc Esler to be opened up for a Northern Ireland soccer international.  Apparently as the ground was part funded by the council there is a clause in the contract which says that the council have the right to run events in the ground three days a year.  The crazy also states that Pairc Esler is the only ground in the north suitable for holding a NI international.

I can see a few problems, three quarters of the ground is terrace and rule 42 might be a stumbling block.  Plus would the Northern Ireland supporters not wreck the place along with most of Newry.

GAA Discussion / 2008 NFL

How does the league work this year?  Do the top 2 teams in each division play off for the title?  Is it true that if any of the teams in Division 3 don't make the top half of the table they go straight into the Tommy Murphy cup when they are knocked out of their provincial championship?

Anyone see this last night?  A scary place full of scary people a lot of whom are totally institutionalised and can't function on the outside.
