100% legitimate Q and Mcguinness just a dickhead.

Same $hit after ulster final last year where of course he didn't see anything

Speaking of dickheads...
5times a dickhead

Is that another one of Lionel Richie's?
Hmm, "3 times a loser,  5times a dickhead"
Lionel could make that work.

Quote from: tyrone08 on May 23, 2026, 08:38:23 PMJesus mcguinness came across as a childish prat when asked a simple question by Tommy.

Trying to spin it that tommy is looking him banned rather than taking responsibility for his own actions of storming the pitch and shoving opposition players instead of trying to calm it down.

In fairness to Jim,  he'd literally just observed Ryan McHugh having his eyebrow split open with blood all over him and O'Connor having been one of the players involved, so it's understandable he'd react like that in the moment.

I think it was a fair question, but Rooney knew perfectly well Jim wouldn't take very kindly to it based on past form. He was never going to say something that could be used against him by the GAA.
Yeah no issue with Jim getting involved, wouldn't expect anyone to stand by and watch a man get busted. Rooney only doing his job and asking the tough questions. Similar ban to Dessie Farrel incoming surely. (Which was absolutely ridiculously harsh)

You should have a big issue with it, we all should. No member of the bench, management or backroom team should be anywhere near the pitch, that's when things get out of hand...with the GAA it's a story as old as time itself. At club matches lunatics jump the fences during such outbreaks regularly
McGuinness gets a lengthy ban on the back of Ger Brennan and I doubt we'll see a repeat of it for a while.

And J70s bit above re O'Connor, O'Connor was having a spat with another player and McHugh threw himself into the middle of it, O'Connor I doubt even seen him coming...3rd man in and all that ie contributing to a melee

I didn't say Jim was right. I said that he saw McHugh come out of a spat with blood pouring out of his face and he saw O'Connor also emerge from the same spat, so in the immediate aftermath he presumably thought O'Connor had thrown the dig.

And yes, Jim will be banned.

But if you're going to start dishing out bans to McHugh for being third man in, then Kerry and Donegal might as well withdraw from the AI as their squads will be decimated.

Fine by me  8)

I'm not chatting about dishing out bans to anyone, just pointing out that McHugh the Innocent had a part to play in the incident, which, if you're being a stickler, is covered in the rule book

Surely the CCCCCCCC wouldn't  ban a man who looked like he was  in Nam?

Quote from: AustinPowers on May 23, 2026, 09:08:23 PMWhat did  we  expect McGuinness was going to say? .... Aye,  you're right. I'm fecked here .  Throw the book at me. Definitely a long  ban  coming my way, and I'll deserve it?

A polite politician style response perhaps?  This brings more attention to it.

Indeed, it would have been easy enough to give an answer that didn't say much. Instead he drew more attention to it.

Sending off killed it as a contest but Donegal extremely effective in the way they put it away. The second goal hitting the net as Kerry fans streamed out of the ground was very amusing.

From the Bunker

To get this in first - No fan of JMG. And I normally like Tommy Rooney.

Have to say Tommy Rooney went in playing Junior B Hurling - Looking for the I have you snookered here JMG and this will get the clicks. He got a Senior Hurling reply. Jim called it as it was - Rooney looking for to fly that kite. Looking for a sacrificial lamb to fill his podcast.

As for Jim not seeing anything - that's what all intelligent managers say. Opening your mouth about a situation will only give the Rooneys of the world more click bait.

Ironically Rooney still got his clip and the clicks.

Donegal are a team with serious discipline issues. And its eminating from their senior leadership.

A manager that thinks its acceptable to run onto the pitch and put his hands on opposition players.

A captain who thinks he can punch opposition players, and faces no consequences.

The gaa need to nip this in the bud.

What did Langan do? Never picked that up on TV.

As a neutral, outside of burns dig it was all a pile of handbags.

Depends on referees report, he spoke to mcguiness and joc at start of second so maybe he didnt want to issue any cards and try let it cool down. Dont think mcguiness was anything near level of ger brennan but his12 week ban was very very harsh

I think this is in reference to M. Murphy punching a lad twice with a closed fist in the League Final.

All true but not a good look. 15 other people on pitch at 'melee' time.

GAA need to clamp down on it. Too many people with access to sideline on these provincial pitches. Croke Park pitch is more secure in that - apart from that Armagh/Galway punch up at far line.
