Journalists are supposed to ask questions like that. He'd be a shit journalist if he didn't.

Is the ref going to finally blow his whistle?... No, he's going to blow his nose

Quote from: tyrone08 on May 23, 2026, 08:38:23 PMJesus mcguinness came across as a childish prat when asked a simple question by Tommy.

Trying to spin it that tommy is looking him banned rather than taking responsibility for his own actions of storming the pitch and shoving opposition players instead of trying to calm it down.

In fairness to Jim,  he'd literally just observed Ryan McHugh having his eyebrow split open with blood all over him and O'Connor having been one of the players involved, so it's understandable he'd react like that in the moment.

I think it was a fair question, but Rooney knew perfectly well Jim wouldn't take very kindly to it based on past form. He was never going to say something that could be used against him by the GAA.

What did  we  expect McGuinness was going to say? .... Aye,  you're right. I'm fecked here .  Throw the book at me. Definitely a long  ban  coming my way, and I'll deserve it?

A polite politician style response perhaps?  This brings more attention to it.

Yeah no issue with Jim getting involved, wouldn't expect anyone to stand by and watch a man get busted. Rooney only doing his job and asking the tough questions. Similar ban to Brennan incoming surely. (Which was absolutely ridiculously harsh)

No issue Jim getting involved? About time u read the rule book Armagh18! Brennans barred for similar on field conduction.

I don't think even the most vitriolic Ulstermen who despise McGuinness reckon he breached COVID protocols.

Similar ban to Ger Brennan though? Maybe.

I didn't think Jimmys intervention was at the same level.

I'm be never seen a player or manager get asked "dya think the CCC will give you a lengthy ban?" after a match. If rooney cornered David Clifford after the match and said "Michael Burns got a red card for his punch, are you worried the CCC will give you an ban for the elbow to the head in the first half?" I don't think any one of you would say "ah Rooneys just doing his job". It was hatchet journalism from Rooney.

A fair question is "have you any comments about the incident at half-time?"/"you were involved in with the scenes at half-time, what happened there". A dickhead question is "do you think the CCC will give you a ban the same as Ger Brennan". Jim can't possibly know what way the CCC will view it so it's an unanswerable question designed only to imply that the CCC should ban Jim.
