Quote from: jb77 on January 20, 2026, 03:37:49 PMAre we  all talking about the same Higgins here
My thoughts are based on McKenna Cup selection and Forbes, Higgins being away from the squad in pre-season. Just think management will be risk averse in the first game and will go with what they have been able to test.
I would have no doubt both have ability to be starters for Derry, Higgins was getting better as the inter-county season went on, maybe a disappointing SFC final but could have been carrying an injury in it. And he is a big man which we need.

I think S Downey will be in at WHB and N Toner will start. I can't see R Forbes or D Higgins coming straight into the team. Neither of those selections would help with the lack of height and winning kick outs.
Hopeful of a good performance and win, fearful of Meath winning all the restarts and thumping over 2 pointers for fun.

Quote from: Truth hurts on January 16, 2026, 03:37:23 PMIt is false to claim that clubs did not support the proposal because it was never brought to the table, which prevented clubs from speaking on it.
The statement "Saval pulled the motion. No other club supported it" is only a lie and or false if there is evidence another club did support the motion e.g. through a statement on social media or to the press.
No one has presented any evidence of support from other clubs, so you are merely speculating it is true. If you can show it is a lie and there was some support then post it, simply disagreeing with people and saying they are wrong does not help your argument to support this cause.

Always seem to have too many men ahead of the ball when they lose a kickout. Perhaps better seeing the problems now than in the league.

Think it was 7 steps for the last point.

Why no 5cm rule here?
The offside line was from the back of goalkeeper Nick Pope. The defender was the last man in this instance so his position in relation to the defender was not relevant for the offside.

Two top 6 teams drawing is hardly a surprise, probably does Arsenal more good as it decreases the chance of Liverpool dragging themselves back into the title race.
The game was absolute dross.
Martinelli was wrong but it was hardly Keane on Haaland.
At 20 seconds into that clip Martinelli throws Bradley off the pitch, Bradley then rolls back on. It is possible that both were indulging in varying degrees of being a dick. With Martinelli clearly winning.
A journalist commenting that Arsenal have won 14 of 16 games at home whilst saying that the crowd doesn't help them seems a bit illogical.

Quote from: Derry Optimist on January 08, 2026, 12:19:19 PMRuairi Forbes,Patrick McGurk, Danny McDermott, Caolan Devlin or Rory McGill. Presumably the first three  at least are on the 2026
Patrick McGurk was listed at 26 in a teamsheet I saw on Ulster GAA X account.
Ruairi Forbes and Danny McDermott I have saw mention on Sigerson panels
I heard a couple of months ago R McGill was injured but no idea on his selection status
6 points between the starting forwards, you'd like more starters rasing orange and white flags as the season progresses.

The Derry Gaels podcast said McMonagle was not involved.
I may be wrong on this but the team selected doesn't appear to have a lot of height.

Why was the breach of the 4 back rule by DCU in 1st half only taken to the halfway line?

Pick players in their position in some version of 4-3-3 or 4-4-2 and Celtic will improve. If he gets someone scoring from the current squad or one in to the club, they might still scrape to the title. As bad as Celtic have been they are level with Rangers and had Hearts easily in their sites when the Nancy experiment started.
At least the title race gives a reason for watching the matches.

Manager has shown no ability whatsoever, no one with the slightest knowledge of the Celtic squad would play this team in this formation to do it 8 times is criminal.
