Quote from: Baile Brigín 2 on September 30, 2026, 11:33:14 AMA law degree isn't that difficult to achieve, and fair play to him.

But a law degree doesn't make you a lawyer.

Isn't?

Yes, a law degree is widely considered very hard because of the heavy reading volume, complex reasoning, and intense competition.
Main Challenges of Studying Law
• Massive Reading Lists: You must read hundreds of pages of dense case law, statutes, and academic commentary every week.
• Complex Material: Law is non-intuitive. You cannot just memorize facts; you have to learn how to apply strict legal logic to new, messy situations.
• High Competition: Many law programs grade students on a strict curve, meaning top marks are hard to earn compared to other subjects.
• Independent Work: You spend many hours studying alone in the library to digest complex legal principles.
Let's rephrase slightly. It is *easier* to get a law degree, amongst others, than to pass the bar or equivalent.

I'm not saying it's a cakewalk or anyone can do it. But you wouldn't pay a law graduate for advice over a solicitor or barrister for a reason.

The same way I wouldn't have an apprentice plumber put gas into my home.. Professional exams come in most subjects after the degree

Whether Jamie did his on his own or someone took his crayons off him and did it he's proved to be a thorn in most and from his perspective is loving the limelight

He's a super prod and makes no bones about it either and why should he? Plenty of agitators grifters on both sides looking coin and notoriety.

Had he been born up the Falls, I've no doubt he'd be doing the same for the taigs

That's waffle. Calling this out. This old thing of 'both sides are as bad as each other' craic. I'm constantly hearing that now.

Name me someone from the Falls who's doing the same role as Bryson is doing for the nationalist community?

New IRA and Óglaigh na hÉireann? These lads are about

FFS.

That's organsations - I asked you to name a person, like Bryson, from the nationalist side.

And are nationalists following them in their thousands? I think the huge, huge majority of nationalist don't want to rewind the clock. They're looking forward, rather than backwards. The organisations you mentioned have no support or mandate in nationalist areas. They are miniscule - probably agents of the state actually.

But in regards to them organisations:

Are they meeting the Secretary of State?

Are they being platformed on the BBC every morning spouting division?

Are they on tv on a daily basis trying to divide the two communities?

Are they allowed to write articles on a weekly basis in local newspapers?

What individual from the nationalist is fighting 'a cultural war'?

What nationalist individual has the ear of all the nationalist parties and is sowing division?

I could go on.

But the narrative that nationalists have an individual like Bryson is lazy analysis. More likely to come from a FFG supporter from D4.

Maybe not to the same degree but trust me there are plenty of people who have milked the cow for years through a variety of different community groups, projects etc.  I recall chatting to a former prisoner talking about this and how certain people got jobs because of who they knew while others were tossed to the side. A lot of former 'comrades' were bitter about not being on the gravy train.

100% BCB1.

Totally agree with that but this but he was saying if Bryson was born on Falls, he'd be at the same.

No-one on the nationalist side is nowhere near comparable with Bryson. I challenge anyone who is the same as Bryson on the nationalist side?

Once again, it's a sly dig at 'the two sides are as bad as each other' narrative. Doesn't wash with me this time.

OK someone tell me the end game here, how does this play out?

gallsman

Marty, do you have any actual understanding of southern politics? Or geography for that matter? Have you ever spent much time in Dublin? Do you even know what a D4 type is, or are you using it as a catch all for anyone remotely middle class from Dublin?

Very, very few influential Irish politicians over the last 50 odd years have been D4ers. Fitzgerald, McDowell? Ruairi Quinn if you really want to stretch the definition of "influential". You know Mary Lou is privately educated and from South Dublin, yeah?

gallsman

Quote from: NAG1 on September 30, 2026, 03:35:54 PMOK someone tell me the end game here, how does this play out?

Loyalist fury, some rioting and burning, the fall of Stormont. Years of negotiations to try and extract concessions from the Brits and much loyalist fear mongering about the cultural holocaust that would hit them in a United Ireland.

Who's? Bryson etc or the residents?

Things have been going too smoothly for people talking about a UI etc. it's to disrupt that. Rouse the rabble.

Think your obsession with Jamie is a bit much, empty vessels make the most noise, feeding such people what they want to hear will always have an audience.

'our' MLA's continue to feed their supporters such talk and have the ear of everyone one you listed, but still haven't achieved anything of note.. are we going forwards with our current crop of nationalist politicians?
None of us are getting out of here alive, so please stop treating yourself like an after thought.

No good way out of this.

They march then I dunno what anarchy that will cause. I actually think it would cause less anarchy than not marching because I think loyalist paramilitaries fingerprints are all over this and they don't march then there probably will be "profound" consequences as per their new spokesperson Lockhart  :(
