Not sure if this has been done this year, if so just ignore it.
Would be interested to see who other then Kerry, people think has a chance of getting to the All Ireland final, to that end you have two votes.
If I have left out any other serious contenders, let me know and I will add them in.

Another Irish interest in a "British" club, would think that the LOI clubs should be banging on his door to invest closer to home!

McMullen buys stake in Livingston

Irish property developer Anthony McMullen has bought a 50% stake in Scottish club Livingston.

The McMullen Group has paid £300,000 to the club's current owner Pearce Flynn, adding to an investment from West Lothian businessman Ged Nixon.

McMullen was recently linked with a move to buy Gretna when the relegated SPL club went into administration.

Speaking to BBC Scotland, Flynn said: "We are delighted to welcome Anthony and Ged on board at Livingston FC."

Flynn was close to agreeing a takeover deal last month with an Italian consortium who wanted to take over at the First Division club.

Former Powderhall owner Eddie Ramsay failed with an investment bid that would have introduced greyhound racing at Almondvale Stadium.

McMullen was also interested in taking over at at crisis-hit Rotherham United, who went into administration in February.

Speaking about his investment in Livingston, McMullen said: "You don't just buy a club, you build a club.

"I'm coming on board because I want to build Livingston into one of the top clubs in the SPL."

Just as a general interest topic, I found this link to an interesting article about the Freemasons.
Haven't fully read it or digested its points but feel free to discuss:

General discussion / Ian Óg to resign... Breaking news.
February 18, 2008, 12:54:48 PM
Breaking news......

Ian Paisley Junior to resign

Ian Paisley Junior is expected to tender his resignation as Junior Minister in a matter of minutes.

The embattled DUP member`s comments about gays and lesbians in the summer brought fierce criticism from many quarters but it is the ongoing Giant`s Causeway controversy that has, it seems, finally brought to an end his ministerial career.

The North Antrim MLA and son of Northern Ireland`s First Minister, is expected to issue a statement today.

Lads and lasses, going to buy a flat screen tv, 32" or 37" was wondering if anyone out there knew of any places to purchase said item?
Obviously am looking for somewhere that does a fantastic deal (ie: cheap as fcuk! ;))
Also which is the best brand, looking middle of the road, good picture and sound quality.
Finally would it be worth getting speakers (home cinema?) if yes where is a good cheap spot?

Thanks in advance.

Cassidy handed captain's armband
Jan 08, 2008

Monday, January 7th.

Donegal have opted to give Kevin Cassidy the captain's armband for the 2008 season.

The former All-Star was a key man for his club, Gaoth Dobhair, as they impressed on their way to winning the Donegal Senior Football County title.

The rampaging midfielder has now be given the responsibilty of leading The Tir Conaill Men as they aim to defend their NFL crown and challenge for the Sam Maguire trophy.

Manager Brian McIver had intended to announce the appointment before now, but is happy to confirm that Cassidy will be his man on the pitch to pass on his instructions.

"My plan was to make the announcement at the game with UUJ, but Kevin wasn't available," said McIver.

"I can confirm that Kevin will be the captain for this year."

What is the general opinion on the board re: Cass?
I think he will make a good captain as long as he controls his temper!

General discussion / Christmas - is it class or not?
December 16, 2007, 09:19:03 PM
I love Christmas, following on from Ziggys thread about joyous people, I was just thinking about what people LIKED about Christmas Time?

I love the fact that people are generally in a more positive and happier frame of mind, smile more, say thank you more, are more generous to the less well off, love the feeling of hope and optimism that seems to be more prevelent at this time of year.
Love the Christmas songs, the annual "gatherings" of friends who haven't seen each other for a year, the family getting together, the giving of gifts and the feeding!
The beer and the decorations aren't bad either!  :D

Was reading a post on another thread where the Quebec independance was mentioned.
I was wondering if any of our esteemed posters based on the North American continent (or people with any knowledge on this subject) could shead any light on this subject, is there a majority in favour?, is it ever likely to happen? and if so when??

General discussion / FF to organise in the Six counties
September 18, 2007, 11:25:55 AM
Just an opinion poll, following on from Berties announcement yesterday.
Who would you vote for in an assembly election if FF were standing (assuming they didn't swallow the SDLP).

General discussion / Pontzpass
August 20, 2007, 11:44:35 AM
I have a friend who is thinking about buying a house in Pontzpass village, but he knows nothing about the area or the village.
Was wondering if any of you good people (Down/Armagh/Tony/etc...) could provide any information on the place, pubs, GAA clubs, proximity to anywhere, facilities and services, etc...?

Thanks in advance.
