Anyway it's very sporting of Sean Cavanagh to support a player on a rival team in this fashion and i think he should be commended for doing so.

Terrible game, thought Derry looked clueless. IMO we weren't set up to win the game, we needed to really attack this game using players such as McKaigue, Sean Leo and O'Kane to carry the game forward. As i suggested prior to the game playing Paul Murphy at MF was a complete no-no. Thought SML, McKaigue, O'Kane, Diver and Skinner were our best players. Our continued ploy of kicking ball to Gormley was not i imagine in the Cass gameplan, thiis has to be down to the players not executing instructions correctly.

Re the sending off, saw it on the telly there & it appeared to be minimal contact with a shoulder, in fact from what i seen it was Tommy McGuigan who knocked Cavanagh over by running into him after mcGuckin shouldered him, so i think it was a bit harsh tho K McG shouldn't have interfered with Cav at all.The rest of it was handbags, tho Penrose was throwing a shape.

Joe McMahon's injury resulted from him going down on the ball, think it was either Lynch or McGoldrick made contact but it appeared to be 2 men going for the ball. The Dooher injury resulted from a clash of heads with Barry McGuigan as they were shouldering each other, instigated by BmCG, after the ball had gone. BMcG also ended up with a gash high up on the side of his head from what i could see.

Can't see too many teams bricking it if they meet Derry in the qual's.

As pointed out here at the time!! ;)

Ziggy if i thought for 1 minute you were a MOd and had anything to do with me getting banned last week i wouldn't be a bit happy...I still haven't took it to well from being banned, i got a raw deal for posting f**king Michael Jackson jokes on the board yet other people escaped such bans...infact their jokes refeering to "Niggers" are still on the thread. I'm not one for grassing people up (i'll leave that to the a**ho**s here who are into that) but mine warranted a warning (if that) and told to delete the jokes.

Mod3 keeps a close eye on me for some reason (under guidance from a certain w***er) I'll not forget that and when the times right and my opportunity arrises i will not hold back >:(

Good man Illdecide, don't take it lying down. ;D

Who's the tout?? ;)

Well they have more chance of being team of the century last century than this century.  What Down carried out in the 60s Tyrone carried out in the 90s, it will be interesting will it take us another quarter century to add to the tally though.
In fairness there is a generally held view that Tyrone have been the team of the decade and there is also the view that Kerry have been, each and own to their own opinion.  Its terrible how actually sticking up for Kerry can get you embroiled in an  arguement.  I would personally not like to put a time frame on it as theres no doubt the kingdom dominated football from 1995 - 2004 and from 2005 onwards itsundoubtedly been Tyrone,  but theres a fair few years left.

This must be a contender for post of the decade!!!  :D :D

It's gonna be hard to pack more inaccuracies into a 5 line post than rrhf has.

Another famous public figure Mohandas Ghandhii has never been found guilty of incestuous pedophilia in the courts, but does that mean that people cannot consider well documented and undisputed facts regarding his life lead to the inescapable conclusion that he was not
always the saint that he has been cracked up to be. Would it be wrong to call Mohandas Gandhi a pedophile even though no court of law ever
convicted him of that? He has been given a lot of leeway.

Huh, where did that come from?

Have I missed something, or were their rumours about Ghandhi's personal life?

What's the big deal anyway about with this guy Ghandhi??

He made one good film ...................and was never heard of again!!!  :D [shamelessly plagiarised from Trigger from Only Fools et al]

GAA Discussion / Re: The bumping cars warm-up

Didn't see the specific drill from Sunday but i've seen and participated in similar type things. In my experience they were always done with the ball. The drill would evolve from simple skillsets such as pickups, handpasses etc moving on to evading a tackle, taking a shoulder charge etc.

The purpose of these drills are to warm up the muscles, tune ball skills before the game, bring up a level of aggression by getting the adrenalin going, focus minds on the intensity of the game you're going into, improve teamwork, use peripheral vision etc.

It's maybe not the greatest drill ever but it can certainly be useful in utilising a number of skillsets within one drill. Having said that i've never seen it done without a ball, sounds fairly pointless to do it that way.

In my experience the number of drills that can be used before a match is limited but you would always incorporate some fast paced hand and kick passing drills also.

Some of the arrogance on here is breathtaking  --  not to say laughable.

If any of you keyboard critics had the skills, knowledge and personality that you seem to think you have you'd be managing at IC level rather than sitting pecking a keyboard criticising thed top managers in the game.

The conclusion of 5 pages of argument....... the teams with the higher skill levels ar e the best teams.

Geniuses.

Am I the only one who thinks it not a little "curious" that GAA clubs happily rely on soccer and rugby clubs etc to organise GAA games etc, or permit GAA clubs to use/rent their facilities etc, yet there is a ban on GAA clubs returning the favour?

P.S. That was a strictly rhetorical question, designed to provoke thought not argument, and so does not require a reply.

On balance EG I have to agree with you.................

You are the only person who thinks it is curious!!  :D :D

Shortly after the recent murder of the 2 soldiers in Antrim I was in a bar in mixed company and a policeman who is a Detective Inspector in the murder squad, whom i would know as an acquaintance, said to me '**** [my name] you're involved with the GAA, you'd have an insight into the thinking of the people who carried this out'

I replied that 'it was this type of statement that got Sean Brown and a lot of other innocent gaels murdered!'

I was really disgusted so he then tried to say that he didn't mean it to sound like it did. For me this shows the mindset of the greater unionist community with regard to the GAA, we are painted as 'the IRA at play' and in the eyes of the many non-nationalists we are a legitimate target. This man, who you would hope would have his finger on the pulse of society displayed a completely unbalanced view of the GAA. God knows if this is the view of the cogniscenti what aren't the knuckle draggers thinking. I thought afterwards that if he as a senior detective, whom one would assume would be able to choose his words carefully, could come out with a statement like this to my face God only knows what he would be saying in the station to his colleagues who were like minded?

Loved watching MFR playing, one of my favourite players of the past 20 years. Oozed class as a player and a person.

Things I will NEVER do in my life as they grind my gears

- Read the Lions thread on the GAAboard, i dip in and out of most threads on the board but i assure u the Lions thread has never nor will ever be opened by myself.

- Watch the film Snakes on a plane- i refuse to watch this film, i consider myself a massive film buff and would watch nearly anything but this is a film i will NEVER watch

-Believe in the US Moon Landings- i just think it was faked no1 could convince me otherwise now.

-Smoke. Ive never tried it and never will. There is smokers in my house and i just hate it.

Have any of you seen this?? What's it about??

Ok then, lets be Hypothetical here, say he slapped Mc Goldrick in the mouth, If he were sent off with a straight red, can Dooher come back on

I wondered if no-one else saw this, a real dirty slap!! Glad to see Barry got straight up again and didn't roll around like themmuns letting on to be hurt. Cavanagh should get an 8 week suspension, with four weeks for Dooher, which they should appeal and get it extended to 11 weeks and reduced to 2 weeks respectively.!!

s work with Derry last year, anyway he also went for the managers job but didn't get it, didn't he?

I agree with all of the above, though I'm not as confident as you about the qualifiers ... The Derry record in the back door is abysmal to say the least.

I just raised the fitness thing as another question - but I agree McCusker, Muldoon & Doherty missing were factors - but the bigger question I have is over player selection like I said above ... Murphy, Brown, Lynn. I don't think I'm being unfair to suggest that most people would have known that half forward line and midfield wasn't going to compete with Tyrones, I don't see how Cassidy didn't.

I thought Derry have one of the best records of any team in the qualifiers?? We have been there more than most TBH!!!  I agree with the posters who think Crook should have been on before any of our HF line, i'm amazed he's not on the panel, one of the top forwards in Derry IMO.

Enda Mc Ginley was seriously annoyed when Barry Mc Guigan hit Dooher. Did anyone see it ?

McGuigan hit Dooher a box in the mouth after the 2 of them had been jostling.

Complete bollocks. Perhaps you could let us know how Dooher ended up with a busted eye then?? And McGuigan with a gash on his temple??

This was a clash of heads when the 2 of them went shoulder to shoulder after the ball was away and McGuigan stepped in to stop Dooher continuing his run. Ref saw it gave a yellow card. Sorted.
