By applying the rules?

Common sense incoming.

He did make mistakes but blowing for the spare arm tackles wasn't one of them.

Fair play to Ben O'Connor he didn't go at Owens after the final whistle.

Collins didn't fancy the long range shot.  Injury time was was well over when that free was awarded.

Personally I feel like hurling has become way too tactical.
The weather and the ref did not help , but I thought the game today was pure shite.
Thought to watch IMO and I am a neutral.

Wouldn't go as far as pure shite, but definitely not a great game, and has been a poor munster championship overall.
Hopefully it explodes into life from semi finals on

Fair point not pure shite.
I still think players are over coached, generally looking for a free if possible as it is pretty much 100% if it is from the half way line or in.
In addition, a free today now takes a full minute off the clock, twice in the first half two limerick frees, from the time the whistle went until the ball was "pucked out" was approximately a minute, just totally kills the momentum and the enjoyment.

Limerick one was a penalty, Ben O'Connor hasnt come across well all year!

Limerick, under Kiely and Kinnerk, have won 17 out of 18 finals they've been in. Some stat that.

That's a fantastic level of consistently. Bringing big performances to when it really matters.

I think the role of Caroline Currid in all of this can't be understated. Huge for Limerick to have her back in again this year.

Galway had a cracking start to the game and Dublin just couldn't seem to get a glove on their rotation in the forward line especially. For Dublin the long ball tactic wasn't working and they persisted with it for too long. Set back for Dublin for sure but Galway definitely looked lively and full of legs around the place which hasn't been the case for a while.

Munster final did end up being a bit of damp squib, not helped by the referee, but I guess this is what happens when a ref goes into this game and actually attempts to enforce the rules, which neither of these two team would be used too. Surprised at the reaction of the players and management after the game tbh they must have really set their stall out to get over the line. Sets up the next meeting of these two very nicely to be fair.

Both penalty calls could have be given (one was) or not given as we've seen many times, the first one for me Owens was a  lot closer to the action, the second one due to the distance the ball traveled he was further away, he did have a quick chat with umpire and was satisfied with what was said and his own judgement, in fairness it did look like they were both hauling themselves and the first one was more of Hayes wrapping the arm over the Cork player, who made the most of it.

The timings no issue, they can't be at that, the timing of the free was one minute over the allocated 5 given, and that was ok as there was one or two stoppages in that period, so no issues there, but for the keeper to come up, dry his hurl look around, take a short one then for the other lad to pass to someone else for him to launch one in was taking the piss, where Owen's had positioned himself for that free I believe he was going to allow a catch or a flick on had the keeper fired one in.

The disputed point, that was hard enough as it was whipped in at close range, haven't seen slow mo's but will go with the judgement on the umpires who were closest, the linesman on that side would also have buzzed in if he felt it was wide..

Be interesting if they meet again in Croke for the final how that will pan out, the weather played its part and the stop start of the game also

Different weather and ref may serve up a better game for the neutral
None of us are getting out of here alive, so please stop treating yourself like an after thought.

And technically they're unbeaten in 18, as the other one was a penalty shootout loss which statistically is a draw.

Galway looked impressive enough on Saturday evening, pacey and accurate from play.

Dublin, Dublin, Dublin!!! They don't seem to be able to string two good performances together.
Granted the injuries beforehand, Rushe patently wasn't fully fit and then Crommie and McKenna all going off in the first half didn't help.

But, they were caught out by Galway to a man traipsing down the park to leave Rabbitte all on his own with Paddy Smyth only for company. I found that staggeringly nieve at this level, not one Dub had a wee think to himself that maybe they should stay back and sweep in front of Paddy or offer some resistance when Galway broke right up the middle for their goal with not a blue jersey within 40 metres of them..

They will still fancy a good crack at Clare though and if they do manage to clear up some of those injuries, who knows.

Galway will either be facing Clare or Cork, who you'd think will have too much for Offaly and will have four weeks to get Rory Burke back and Daithi's knee to heal up..

If Dublin beat Clare I'd presume there'll be no semi-final draw needed and the Dubs would be facing Limerick.

I don't think they need a draw either way - no disrespect to Offaly I've written them off here but if Cork are in a semi final they're not going to play the Munster final again? Therefore Galway v Cork on 4th July and Limerick v Clare/Dublin on 5th July

Quote from: podge on June 07, 2026, 09:44:41 PMBOC doing a fair bit of whinging about the ref but I think he can have no real complaints.

One of the cork points in 1st half was fiercely contested - the body language of the limerick players suggested it was wide and that is normally a good gauge.

He could have given limerick a penalty for a very similar challenge to the one he gave against Kyle hayes.

Questionable over carrying for the cork goal from play

And finally, even if they had been told it was the last shot at the end, the keeper was never making it anyway.

It was an astonishing faux pas not to ask the ref how many seconds were left, is there one shot, two shots or one last play?
