Glad to see Galway win. Both needed Silverware today. it was a great chance with Kilkenny on a sabbatical from being a serious outfit. There was a free shot at a Leinster title. Today was always going to be about who did and didn't turn up. Both have a history of doing either and both could have completely different performances in their next game.

The two games yesterday were strange I thought. Never really took hold in a proper sense.

The Mc Donagh Final started with a bang after 1 min and I hoped it'd continue into  classic, but not to be. Although Laois will not worry about that now. They've got the job done. A good year under Tommy. Mission accomplished.

Carlow will regret the wides. Some of them shocking enough. That was their issue. Could have won 3 games with the amount of wides they hit. Wides just suck the energy out of a team but Carlow kept going to their credit but their shooting didn't improve.

Picky Maher was very good for Laois. Cillian Dunne was excellent also.  Jack Kelly came on and hit 3 good points to seal the deal. It's a long way back for Carlow now.

The Leinster Final was poor enough I thought. Hard a strange feel to it. Like a challenge match type of feel in a way. Galway were deserving winners by a long way. They created loads of space and Dublin defence were at sixs and sevens. Galway then exploited the space.

I was disappointed in Dublin. They never got to grips with the game and never looked as if they were going to get close to them. Losing O'Sullivan was a blow pre throw in as he would revel in CP. The game was very disjointed with a lot of stop/starts becuse of injuries. Didn't help the flow of the game.

I thought Galway were in control, especially in the central areas. Tom Monaghan is a simple but a very effective hurler. Finds pockets of space and bang, over the bar. No messing. And for the opposition, it's hard to defend against that. Whealan seems to thrive now with Rabbitte as a foil for him. But Galway's overall movement was excellent. Their first goal was nearly like a 'beat the offside line' in soccer. Dublin's defence was pulled badly out the field. They got turned over and goal.

It's funny in a way in that you see teams trying to work the sliotar out through the lines e.g. Dublin and Kilkenny but compare them to Limerick doing it. Limerick make it look so simple. Dublin tried it but got turned over easily enough e.g. Galway's goal a prime example.

How do Dublin rise themselves for Clare in a few weeks? Get the bodies and minds ready to go again. Maybe CP didn't suit Liam Rush as the game passed him by until his injury. But credit to Galway for this. They took him out by their movement and space creation.

Galway have a Leinster title plus a break to get ready foe an All-Ireland semi-final. MD will be delighted with that. Will Rory Burke be ok? He adds a bit of directness to Galway. No doubt they'll all be sitting back to watch the Munster Final later today.

Even though the results in the Round Robin were decent, Dublin still well off the pace.

At senior level in both codes there is going to be very little to celebrate once all is said and done.

What are you talking about Dublin has brought so much happiness to many countries travelling to Croke Park this year. There has been loads to celebrate. The sad thing is that most Dublin supporters have not been there to see the celebrations.

Galway were excellent and deserved their win. At times there was some very slick hurling played. And obviously, Westmeath fans were overjoyed and rightly so at a well earned Leinster title.

Cork supporters letting themselves down. No need for it.

The standard seems lower than previous meetings.
It's all very flat.

James Owens blowing the spare arm tackle  .

He'll be castigated for it.

Technically correct but game isn't flowing

Better to blame the refs from previous years who completely ignored the rules and let everything go.

He's blowing things that aren't frees also. Too fond of the whistle today.

Milltown Row2

The weather hasn't helped, the stop starting of the frees (which they are) there's no space about, missed frees and handy shots but the keepers have been fantastic
None of us are getting out of here alive, so please stop treating yourself like an after thought.
