I really don't think normal unionists care that much about this and are maybe embarrassed?

1. Poor turn out at rally last night?
2. Where the bouncy castles and chip vans cancelled?
3. Listened to Nolan this morning sounded like he was begging people to phone in at the start.

I think people are trying to slide away from Jamie .... Jim has been very quiet. And his introduction of Carla at the rally had a real bang of a boyfriend about to lose his girlfriend and trying everything to keep her.

Quote from: Baile Brigín 2 on September 30, 2026, 11:33:14 AMA law degree isn't that difficult to achieve, and fair play to him.

But a law degree doesn't make you a lawyer.

Isn't?

Yes, a law degree is widely considered very hard because of the heavy reading volume, complex reasoning, and intense competition.
Main Challenges of Studying Law
• Massive Reading Lists: You must read hundreds of pages of dense case law, statutes, and academic commentary every week.
• Complex Material: Law is non-intuitive. You cannot just memorize facts; you have to learn how to apply strict legal logic to new, messy situations.
• High Competition: Many law programs grade students on a strict curve, meaning top marks are hard to earn compared to other subjects.
• Independent Work: You spend many hours studying alone in the library to digest complex legal principles.
Let's rephrase slightly. It is *easier* to get a law degree, amongst others, than to pass the bar or equivalent.

I'm not saying it's a cakewalk or anyone can do it. But you wouldn't pay a law graduate for advice over a solicitor or barrister for a reason.

The same way I wouldn't have an apprentice plumber put gas into my home.. Professional exams come in most subjects after the degree

Whether Jamie did his on his own or someone took his crayons off him and did it he's proved to be a thorn in most and from his perspective is loving the limelight

He's a super prod and makes no bones about it either and why should he? Plenty of agitators grifters on both sides looking coin and notoriety.

Had he been born up the Falls, I've no doubt he'd be doing the same for the taigs

That's waffle. Calling this out. This old thing of 'both sides are as bad as each other' craic. I'm constantly hearing that now.

Name me someone from the Falls who's doing the same role as Bryson is doing for the nationalist community?

The situation must be a nice change for Jon Boutcher ;D. All he's done since he's been here is apologise for the crimes of the RUC after they've finally been exposed in the courts.

Quote from: God14 on September 30, 2026, 09:10:39 AMSo back to the courts on Friday again.
If the community can hold the line until Friday, could we see a new court ruling in our favour?

Im a complete lay man in legal terms, but to me Fridays legal challenge could carry some weight. If the Garavghy Road residents association have the full PSNI assessment, and can point to the Parades commissioning not considering it in its entirely, could we get some success here?

A question directed to David here, is the "material misdirection" a high bar to get a court judge to intervene? Your judgement was bang on over the weekend, keen to know your thoughts

The Parades Commission are a specialist tribunal. A JR court will only intervene in limited circumstances because specialist tribunals are to be afforded what's called a wide margin of appreciation.

As a result in order to have the Court intervene it's a high bar. A material misdirection might meet that high bar.

I imagine that's why it's framed as it is.

I should add the Courts consideration will be limited to the information available to the decision maker at the time of the decision and nothing that has come to light since.

Maybe not to the same degree but trust me there are plenty of people who have milked the cow for years through a variety of different community groups, projects etc.  I recall chatting to a former prisoner talking about this and how certain people got jobs because of who they knew while others were tossed to the side. A lot of former 'comrades' were bitter about not being on the gravy train.

The vans and bouncy castle were cancelled early yesterday with the excuse of bad weather given.

Would Angry Jim be keeping the head down as this dispute could end up in the European Court, you know the Court that he said should have no say in the wee 6 since Brexit?

Brexit and the ECHR are completely unconnected.

This case will never be near the ECJ which is related to Brexit

I'd say they're alienating more and more sensible Protestants who remember the murders this led to the last time and any sensible young people don't know the dark days and don't want to. But as usual empty vessels make the most noise and the loud voices online are loving wee Seamie and his act.

In fairness the wind last night would have blown an orangeman off his sister so not surprised the bouncy castles etc were cancelled

Many many moons ago, I applied for a job in one of those 'community' groups (that I grew up in), two roles up for grabs, I was well prep'd for the interview, understood the game and what was required, the interview went as well as it could be and well received (I thought) from the interview panel, about an hour or so later they called to say that I wasn't successful and I'd be put on their follow up should it not work out for those who got the job, sure enough about ten weeks later they called to offer me the job, I had moved to a better paying role during that time and declined the offer.

When I found out who they had hired and let go I wasn't surprised tbh, but sure, keeping it in the family is part of the game

I know that exact feeling. There are any number of people I was in school with who have become doctors who I'd barely have trusted to tie their shoes.

That said as you move from secondary to third level to professional education, there is an undeniably necessary ability to be capable of devoting time to learning, even if it's rote learning, at the expense of personal time.
