Monaghan do push their luck, they've looked like they were going to get stuffed a few times, but it seems only a matter of time b4 they will get an actual hiding. If they dont have O'Hanlon & McAnespie back (along with McCaul's injury) it could be this weekend. I wouldn't bet the house on it tho.
Roscommon by 4

What is the story with McCaul's injury?

O'Hanlon a big loss for them. McAnespie decent but they can live without him.

Would agree with that synopsis. They will hit a day where McCarron etc have less impact. Question is if that is this weekend. I honestly don't think they'll win this one. Roscommon are a very good team.

Poor fella did the cruciate.

Derry, ourselves and Mayo all should have beat Monaghan out the gate but failed to do so

Yeah but it's no coincidence 3 teams couldn't do it. Different story if it was a one off. You're in pattern territory there. If they continue this they will see a game out eventually.

Monaghan are the clear underdogs in this game no doubt about that, but the Rossies will have to overcome a lifetime record of losing to Monaghan outside of Roscommon.

Monaghan only had to play decent football for 10 or 15 minuted to overcome Derry and nearly buckle Armagh/Mayo, probably will need to play a bit better than that on saturday as the Rossies are looking ambitious and uppity.

Another Monday morning draw.

QuoteThe draw for Round 3 of the All-Ireland senior football championship will take place next Monday on RTÉ Radio 1's Morning Ireland programme.
The draw is scheduled to begin at 8.35am.

The four winning teams from Round 2B will be drawn to play the four losing teams from Round 2A. A subsequent draw will then determine home advantage.

The draw will be subject in the first instance to the avoidance of repeat provincial final pairings and where possible, repeat pairings from Round 1 of the All-Ireland series.

Is the ref going to finally blow his whistle?... No, he's going to blow his nose

Fingers crossed we're not in the pot!

I seem to remember Ros beating Monaghan in some league play off in Croker mid 90s?
Regardless,  Ros do not have a good record in knockout championship football outside of Connaught since 1980 so that ceiling would need to be smashed v Monaghan.

False memory syndrome not that it matters much in this respect, Monaghan were beaten by Laois once or twice in the league in CP in the '90s, however, more importantly Connacht is spelled Connacht.

Quote from: Blowitupref on June 09, 2026, 10:20:25 PMMeath footballer Ruairí Kinsella has suffered an ACL injury and is out for the year.  Happened a few days ago at training.

Same injury for Killian McGinnis of Dublin he was subbed off v Louth last weekend with that injury

Big loss for Meath that.

Jordan Morris also a doubt too.

Very hard to see us win unless others step up their performance massively.
It won't be the next manager but the one after that Meath will become competitive again - MO'D 2016

This is the perfect game for one of these two teams. Neither are playing with any confidence and need a win. If Derry play like they have done they won't win but they are bound to start playing more offensively - surely.

If Meath go out on Saturday will Brennan still have support?

After last year beating Dublin/Galway the championship has been very uninspiring to date.  Well beaten by Westmeath and couldn't beat a 14 man Cork team.

There'll be questions to answer but I don't think we'll see a serious push against him. We got promoted to division 1 which we clearly put a lot of effort into. However we needed to find another level in the championship and it just hasn't materialised.

I think going out in the first round of Leinster really set us back. We naively thought we could build through the rounds of it when in reality we needed to be on fire from the start.

That being said reports from challenge games have always been positive if you can put much stock in them.

Given the injuries we'll need the lads to dig deep for the win. Jack O'Connor has to have a big game now, Lynch and Conlon might both start now. Costello has to be able to put in a 70+ minute performance - same for our whole midfield (except for Menton, who can go for at least 55mins).

Defence and kickouts are still our Achilles heel though. Haven't unearthed any serious talent there and Rafferty isn't quite hitting the heights of last year. There are questions being asked now about what Aaron Kernan is bringing to the table as a defensive coach.

Interesting that Aaron came in as defensive coach, when his better attributes playing were actually going forward.

Defence seems to have been an issue as you say Rafferty seems to not have been at the heights of last year and the team seems very easy to score against.

Whoever comes through this one should get great confidence and you wouldn't want them coming out of the hat in next round.
