Where does that  leave them  now?

With a month break before having to go to a provincial finalist?

I'm sure that Kerry would prepare a warm welcome in Killarney. But you might get Westmeath or Kildare.

We might get Down again.

Or they could be out of the All Ireland by next Sunday. I'm not convinced by the system.

Yeah, it's going to be fascinating to see if Down's performance was a once off or a sign of things to come. Hopefully the latter.
They've ran all the top teams in Ireland close in the past couple of years Armagh, Galway, Donegal twice. Their issue is consistency. No chance they'll get themselves up to that level again to beat Armagh imo.

Maybe not, but if you listened to Laverty after the game and the lengths they, as a group went to in the last 4 weeks, especially the last 10 days, they'll not be lying down, especially playing to stay in the AI. Add in to the fact Armagh are maybe a wee bit below Donegal, will make for a fascinating semi.

Quote from: SouthDublinBro on April 26, 2026, 04:51:10 PMFar better team won. If Down keep playing like that they won't be stopped in Ulster.

If they lose to Armagh by fewer than 10 I'll be shocked.

Id imagine Down will travel with a lot of confidence, they'll have a lot more intent than the containment game they came with in 24. Could be a weird vibe in the camp with Tony McEntee in there, they'll not be able to slander our good name as freely as they might like.

Could be weird for Armagh as well, they've undoubtedly done all their prep work for Donegal.

Very sad to hear that Michael Langan likely out for the year. He was absolutely flying.

Did McGuinness not say after the game he is back next week hopefully, just rolled his ankle in training?

Pretty simple. I think Armagh are a much better team who got their poor performance out of the way in the Tyrone game and will be all out to win Ulster. I don't think they'll be anywhere near as exposed through the middle as Donegal were today and I don't think this Down team, at this point in their trajectory, have it in them to put two performances like that back to back.

I'll be very happy to be proved wrong though, as the hubris from the Armagh fans this year is unbearable.

Quote from: thewobbler on April 26, 2026, 04:41:18 PMThat's genuinely exceptional from Down.

Almost flawless decision making.

Guinness and Murdock and Mooney all superb.

Good to see the 3 of them getting plaudits in a huge game like this, Mooney in his school/minor days was as good as you'll ever see at that age before going to Australia. Three great athletes.

Championship has been super so far, I would hate to see Down playing Tailteann cup after that today, would be criminal

I remember friends from school saying that Rostrevor had the best U14 player in Ireland at the time. Had no idea who they were talking about until we played them in friendly. They had to put Caolan in nets in the second half to even up the game and he still scored a goal

At MacRory cup for St Colman's he was genuinely a freak of nature, was lads playing county minor who could not get near him

No GAA+ only I think, niblock probably seething

Don't understand why this wasn't shown. Antrim Derry was the most predictable of games with Fermanagh Armagh in that camp but Fermanagh at times have something in them.. Never expected Dow to win this but thought they would give it a good rattle.

Captain Obvious

Was impressive from Down talking out the strong favourites and defending Ulster champions Donegal.

Armagh,Derry,Monaghan all have their own issues so why shouldn't Down back up that win today and go on to win Ulster?
