Quote from: Saffron71 on August 30, 2025, 07:25:29 PMI could be wrong here but I'm nearly sure in a three way tie on points it comes down to score difference in the games played between those three teams. This has been the case in the Hurling Championships or so I'm lead to believe. So that would be Ahoghill bottom on -13, St Paul's would be on +1 and Aghagallon on +12.

So it is likely to be a three team relegation play off round between TNN (14th League);Aldergrove(8th); Ballymena (4th) or Lamh Dearg(7th), who play tomorrow.

Two of those clubs were heavily involved in 'setting up' thd 16 team division 1, two years ago.

The current format is subject to review in the autumn...that will be interesting!

GNM look to be favourites for relegation in IFC.

Disgraceful if gnm do get relegated on the back of an officiating error
They should have been relegated last year but got a reprieve

What was the error?

Round or stuffed

Comhgalls manager screamed and roared for 3 back breaches every time gnm had an attack, linesman called it with gort on the opposition 20 and 2 points in the game, admitted he hadn't seen it and apologised if he'd made a mistake, completely swung the momentum of the game which was all gort at that stage

No surprise there, he tries to manage and ref the game at the same time!  Ref needs to deal with this by giving a free against his team.

I heard that boy at the same shite earlier in the season. In 2 different matches
Obviously he does it every game then.

Rossa and portgleonne through now too.

But of a hiding for Ballymena - the wheels seem to have come off there.

Not sure on full draw for quarters.

At a guess creggan rossa and still galls portglenone nne (which would be an interesting one)

Brigids v dunloy
Cargin v aghagallon
Pg1 v st galls
Creggan v rossa

Some decent ties there. Unless aghagallon improve then hard to see that one being close. Creggan probably favoured over rossa too.

Hopefully the standard and pace of general
play goes up from here, it's been universally poor and pedestrian to date.

It will improve from here on, the top 8 teams are left to battle it out. Hence the quality will rise

Went over to Glenravel and Rossa today, good game in poor conditions. Glenravel surprised me but Rossa deserved the win, lots of errors due to the weather but an enjoyable game.

Are you new to Antrim football?  This is the same every year in the group stages.

Leaves an easy route back to 12 teams then.

Ahoghill and TNN in relegation playoffs in both league and championship.

Meanwhile the two teams that were added without winning promotion, All Saints and St James, finished in playoff spots in the championship, arguably a better reflection of where teams really are than league placing.

Would also mean no promotion of course.

Interesting is right.

Sadly no, but lord it has been poor. More intensity at the bingo.

I remember reading somewhere earlier in the year that said group toppers would get home advantage for quarter finals, havent heard it again since though so assume its not true.

St Brigids pitch would not be capable of hosting a quarter final anyhow unfortunately for different reasons.
