He seems to have believed his 'investment' was equity, like buying into a soccer or rugby club. He seems to have expected seats on the board and a say.

Should this not have been very clear the first time they met?
Agreed, you are spot on regards this "sponsorship" with one sided assumed strings attached.

QuoteUnder the terms of the agreement, the GAA secured a €1m reduction in the capital value of Mayo GAA's loan, extended the repayment schedule to 29 years and reduced the loan interest rate from 3.2pc to 1.9pc.

This arrangement helped reduce Mayo GAA's monthly loan repayments from more than €46,000 per month down to €34,000 per month – a change that resulted in a cash saving of €150,000 per annum for Mayo GAA.

This renegotiated loan arrangement greatly improved the county board's cash flows and helped direct more funding towards the preparation of county teams each year.

Ryan outlined to club delegates how the loan arrangement has been reorganised further in recent years, with the loan term extended out to 32 years and repayments reduced further to €25,000 per month.

In total, the new loan arrangement has saved Mayo GAA over €100,000 in loan repayments to date.

Yeah, sounds like the big, bad GAA is rightly screwing the poor Gaels of the West. Embarrassing reaction from some people here to a story evidently shockingly reported by a professional (and incompetent) contrarian.

Wouldn't have much time for Mc Kenna and some of his crackpot theories, or his banker mate, but not sure this is totally a case of "nothing to see here". Think this story could reveal more yet.

😂😂 not a sinner in Ireland has asked Gemma for his opinion!!

imtommygunn

For the uneducated.... Why do you call him Gemma??

gallsman

Gemma O'Doherty wannabe, I imagine.

imtommygunn

Ah, thanks. Vaguely aware of who she is but avoid reading much as just appears another online nutter. McKenna doesn't come across as a very stable individual - waste of airtime too.

There's a few more online who have earned the Gemma moniker. Some I've seen include Tech Gemma and Restaurant Gemma.

Before social media these Gemmas were the fellas who sat on their own in the pub because everyone was avoiding them.

I'd imagine Ewan isn't in a position to turn down paid "work", and this guy is paying him to be the PR voice for his campaign.
He's best ignored so as not to give value to the "employment".
This guy is toxic, hopefully this comes to an end soon.

So he complained that there was no GAA on RTE over the weekend but RTE showed the other semi final in that rugby thing.

Problem is TG4 showed the rugby.

Sums him up. Nearly had a good point.

Wildweasel74

There not a minor munster hurling semi/ final on tg4 sat past?, not rte I suppose!
