Some serious amount of trolling on Fergie. He took a woeful Utd team in the 80's to top dog in premierships in the English league. European losses were bad at times but we could point out plenty of 'big' teams that lost games.  ;D

Short term memory strikes again.

Quote from: imtommygunn on October 16, 2024, 03:59:48 PMI still think Spurs would have beat Liverpool that day had they played Moura instead of Kane.

I think Fergie at times lacked tactical nous in Europe but had enough for the english league.

I can never reconcile this thought pattern.

Moura's career could be summed up by one word: inconsistent. You couldn't rely on him to do anything, ever... let alone put a big performance in for a cup final.

Whereas Harry Kane is a consistent goalscoring machine and that time was Spurs' best player by a distance.

quit yo jibbajabba

Think possibly Kane was just back from injury/not near fit, but yeah imo Moura did his best work as an impact sub.

There was no way Pool was losing that one after the Barca semi but anyway that's enough Pool talk or the natives won't be happy 🤓

He fucked Utd for the want of some horse DNA, they say he merits the £2m a year because of his role in making Utd a £6bn valued asset, in truth, had he not got caught up in that horsey business Utd would be in a near unassailable position as the Real Madrid of GB and worth an incalculable amount as a pure money printing machine - thats some legacy

Again, I'm sure he's not too worried about losing the 2m a year job, his legacy is better than most and that is what he'll be remembered for. This is a no news story really

Pretty much anything balanced or nuanced I've read about the Fergie topic agrees that giving him 2m a year was ludicrous. Possibly the first correct decision INEOS have taken since they took over.

Only ones defending it or claiming that Fergie has been done in or shafted are gimps like Rio.

Look-Up!

In fairness there's some amount of shite talked about Utd and football in general and retired Ferguson wouldn't be the first man to steal a living from the game.

Had to laugh at Paul Merson the other day saying Gary Neville or Rio Ferdinand, or even both together, should be put in charge of recruitment at Utd. Usual list of reasons, know the club inside out, know the game inside out, best interests of the club at heart etc. One of the batshit craziest things I have heard said on football in a while.

Quote from: Maroon Manc on October 04, 2024, 09:51:15 AMJust baffled by what I'm watching as I am by the pundits who claim Ten Hag doesn't have a style of play, there's a clear style of play its just not working and amazed he continues with it.

Even Martinez who's been a revelation since he joined was dreadful last night, whole back 4 like against Spurs were made too look crap and thats down to the system. We are way too easy to play against, there's space everywhere and doesn't help when you've the likes of Rashford who makes half arsed attempts at closing down. I've heard countless pundit comment Rashford was brilliant last night and completely ignore his defending in both goals.

Play the same way against Villa Sunday and he's likely to be sacked on Monday, I was delighted he got the chance this season but the excesses have run out now as everyone bar Shaw is available. Thats a good squad, nowhere near as bad as made out by some and looks like he's incapable of getting the best out of them.

Go to Villa and replicate what he did in the cup final and work on tightening up his system over the international break, wishful thinking on my behalf though!

MM do you not think the CB's look all at sea last night because of who was playing in front of them?

Casimero is not capable of playing a holding midfield role on his own any more. Combine that with Dalot seemingly having a free role, meant that there was gaps every where in front of them and to the sides of them.
I would say they were glad to get off in the end.

He has to rotate the squad its just that when he does the depth isnt there. I do think with a system change there is more solidity within the squad but he seems reluctant to change.

The patented fullback-come 10 role, Garth himself couldn't of thought it up better

Another defeat. Missed chance after chance in 1st half. Never a pen. But utd got what they deserved, nothing.

I think the ref and VAR are just trying to put Eth out of his misery and get him sacked, enough of this death by a thousand cuts crap it ain't getting better under him and never was get rid of him and most of the squad too.

You can blame him for plenty but the performances on the pitch of late the players really don't cover themselves in glory
