Quote from: tiempo on May 30, 2024, 10:13:29 AMFound it notable the turnover in players between minor and U20 in recent years

Very few of the minor team who lost to Meath were playing in the recent U20 win, with a number of starters not even on the panel, in effect a very young U20 team with some only finished up at MacRory

Similar a few years ago when McHugh was MF on the winning U20 team 3 years before his final year

How is it that 17-18-19yos are significantly outnumbering 20yos on the 20s team?

Fall off between 20s and Senior is to be expected, but seems a gap between minor and 20s

There is some serious talent coming through at the moment but Senior mgmt is the big ticket item on the horizon, the right appointment is critical, no idea who would be best
Any notable omissions that come to mind? Guessing Strain would be the main one

From what I can see only 3 of the starting 15 from the u17s in 2021 weren't in the squad for the recent win.

Agree on next senior management it's hard to see any candidates that are banging down the door to be next in line. Even Tally has done his best work as a coach not as manager.
Niall Robinson, Matthew Mallon and Ronan Strain. Conan Devlin was on the panel for opening game but left because he wasn't starting but he is still underage next year. Likes of Callum Daly, Joey Clarke and Ruairi McCullagh would have been year 11 at school and barely 15 years of age and wouldn't of started their development properly, which is the case in the majority of personel changes from Under 17 teams to Under 20 teams. Another drawback of the whole change away from Under 18 and Under 21.

ONeill

You just want to see something fresh and exciting. A bit of adventure. The class of 97/98 offered that in the years down the line after that.
I wanna have my kicks before the whole shithouse goes up in flames.

So we're out if we're beat tomorrow after that Donegal result? Maybe that will sharpen the minds. In saying that if we can't beat Clare at home we'll be deservedly out on our holes.

Corner back Niall Devlin's goals and points papering over a dire performance

Niall Gartland reporting only 3000 at the game. Worrying times.

Tyrone attendance had been low for the last few years. Question is does a higher fan attendance create a better team or does better team performance increase attendance. Probably a bit of both.

But its far easier justifing attending games as the cost when you know you are going to see a good performance

Comprehensive scoreline in the end I suppose. Is an inevitability about it. Can't understand the default position of taking off McCurry.. and putting on McShane..

Tyrones best player yet again was Niall Morgan. Provided the attacking spark time and time again with his line breaks. We just hope he has several years left in him.
Kennedy, Devlin in the first half, Clarke had good games as well. Two Canavans and Mattie prominent when things opened up in the last 15.
Performance again must improve, the opening 50 minutes or so won't cut it against Cork or anyone we face after that. Tyrone not utilising the pace in the middle 8 remains an issue, for too long the play was too slow.

I'm aware of that hence the... before McShane reference. Not saying he put McShane on for McCurry

Quote from: RedHand88 on May 28, 2024, 03:49:34 PMDo Tyrone need to drop the policy of only employing from within the county?

Can't see that happening. Think only us, Dublin and Kerry have this policy (I stand to be corrected). Personally, I want the policy to continue. It would be an admission that there's no one good enough within the county to do the job. I would never believe that.

John Donnelly was a Fermanagh man. Think when Tyrone won Ulster in 56 & 57 Gerry Brown was from Down. 1st AI minor team was managed by a Dub Peter O'Reilly.

An Watcher

Is there an argument to try and rest up this weekend?  We're facing 3 battles in a very short period of time with the last one being up against a fresh kerry, dublin or armagh/galway.

Take the foot off the pedal, focus on an away game the following week.  Or, go hell for leather this weekend and chances are, still end up in second place.

Just thinking of that debacle last year against kerry
