What's the reason for 40,000 plus crowd at today's game i thought the Dubs always got full houses at this stage in the Championship?

Good. We have the real fans there now. Delighted personally. Less muppets.

Agree with that although we still need to weed out a few more... Some of the things I've overheard in Croke Park over the last few weeks would make you wonder have people ever seen a football match

Its blatantly unfair to expect a team to play 2 games in 6 days at thsi level especially when some of them get 2 weeks rest. I don't think Louth or Limerick could complain but Monaghan and Sligo could in my view. It takes at least 3 days to recover from a game at this level. At least 3 days.

The teams they played against played 2 games in 7 days and have been doing so for a number of weeks. It is not the physical exertion that they require a longer rest period from but they do need a longer break to get over losing a final

All depends on the mentality of the players. If Kerry lose a Munster Final they know there's still business to be done between now and September and while no-one likes losing that's life.

Contrast to players from Louth who aren't used to playing in a provincial final never mind losing them. Add to that the manner in which they lost and the attention that has been shone on it by people outside the county. They haven't been let move on.

The rest period definitely has a bearing on it. The team that faired the best today had 3 weeks to recover from their final defeat.

In general the calendar needs to be streamlined somehow. It's full of imbalances in terms of differing length of rest breaks. Maybe the Ulster Championship should start earlier in order for their losing finalist to have a longer rest break. The provincial winners would then have the same rest break going into the quarter finals as each other.

And Dublin was poor game, and Dublin themselves aren't that good, played a lot better against Galway and Galway without the so called new king of hurling and his older brother who's pretty handy to say the least, aren't the same team. Last time I checked when Cork played Galway Canning scored every single Galway point except one.
Obviously they are not going to be the same with out the so called golden child.

You wont find a Tipp fan who thinks they played well against Cork and you wont find a Galway fan, hell you wont find any fan, except you apparently, who doesn't think that a team without the Canning's are a shadow of a team.

And yet Cork still got trashed by both.

That is not an opinion, it's fact. Yet I'm childish for saying, feck off.

Last year's Cork panel played Dublin twice and only managed to beat us by five points on both occasions. Many would argue that they were lucky to beat us in the Championship game.

Now tell me who isn't very good. It's pathetic coming on here and using performances against Dublin to back up your argument when you don't take these into context.

Contrast this to the 2007 championship game where Cork beat us by a cricket score. Dublin are a county on the up and one day we will be better than Cork and its not because of internal rows or politics hampering your county. Sport goes in cycles, get over it

Oh and I'd just like to give MJ Ryan a mention today.

Terrific servant of Dublin hurling. May you rest in peace.

No round 2 thread?

Looking forward to tomorrow's game. Missing Dotsie which is a huge loss, Boland out too. Galway without the Joe show. Bet them two years ago in PP. What I wouldn't give for another day like that

Hope you enjoyed it ;)

Only back now. Had a great day. Excellent performance. We looked to struggle in the beginning particularly in the half back line. Felt Galway were on top there from the off. Hiney and co weren't long getting back into it though. Galway were dangerous in the open but we closed them down well and they didn't look to enjoy the physical element on the game.

Obviously Galway were without Lee and the Portumna crowd but Dublin were missing players too. Liam Ryan had an excellent game at CF and Liam Rushe is a star of the future. McCrabbe improved on last weeks performance and in general we weren't as wasteful in front of the posts as we were last week.

Hard not to get carried away here but we've four points now and not far from guaranteeing Division 1 Hurling next season

Surely O2 are getting increased exposure as a result of the conflict

I am very involved with my club and I have been for a long time, I love my club despite some of the way it's ran and some of the people in it.

Out of interest, how did your club vote during the week? Will representatives of your club be attending this evening? And lastly do you feel you have had the chance to brief your club representatives of your support for the former panel?

I think you'll find that every other county in Ireland is glad that Cork are fielding a team. The way Cork's non participation manipulated promotion and relegation issues in the League last year was a disgrace.

Perhaps the title of the petition should be broader to reflect the nature of the dispute?

Fiar play to all involved down in Thurles tonight
