No it's not sold out...tickets are available at O'Donnell park from 12:30 tomorrow. Each shop only gets a certain allocated amount of tickets so most shops have sold out their quota just!

Negative tactics aside - Donegal have been damn lucky this year with big decisions, penalties not given against them, panalties given to them and a clear goal disallowed... can it continue?

Donegal deserve credit for raw hunger and work rate. McGuinness knows they are not good enough to compete in open attacking terms so has given them a game plan that is working. Awful to watch but there is not a team left in the c'ship who will want to play them now.

There is one thing that really bugs me though and that is the fact that Donegal have perfected the strategic foul. They foul consistantly in certain areas of the pitch to kill the pace and break attacks, allowing them to get back in numbers to swarm defence and gain turnovers. You will notice that different players do the fouling (never same player twice in a row) so as to avoid yellow cards. When referees start to act against cynical fouling then the game will be less defensive and Donegals game plan will drastically reduce its impact.

I know this is a discussion board and everyone is entitled to their opinion but jesus ck, every post I have read of yours over the past 3 weeks seems to be very anti-donegal!

Yes they have had a few lucky breaks, but theres no need to continue bringing them up in every post! Donegal are not the first and definetly wont be the last to be accused of cynical fouling. I think Kildare in extra time today proved they are not the only team that can be accused of it!

And I find it almost laughable that you casually confirm to us all how McGuinness feels about Donegals attacking ability! He has repeatedly stated how he feels Donegals forward line is one of the best in the country.
This Donegal team, and many that have passed before it have been praised as great "natural" footballers who have the skills and talents to match anyone, but just didnt try hard enough. Now that they are finally working hard with every player tracking back to defend- but also running forward to attack, they are being classed as a team with no ability that just scrap out the matches.

I think this team deserves a few lucky breaks!

Its the beauty of the game, everyone thinks they are hard done by and unlucky when they lose a close match. But one team always has to lose! Im guessing you have an armagh connection just like all these unlucky teams? ha

On the othe hand it will be fcukin great to be preparing for a trip to Croke Pk in August to see our Seniors .
Tomorrow is the 30th of July.
Read my piece again buckeen  ;)
It should be obvious I was talking about if we win tomorrow.....

Hope  and optimism and belief  are three vital ingredients for tomorrow.
Crowd wise ... Ros 7,000 Armagh 1,000 , Donegal 5,000 and Kildare 12,000 plus about 5,000 others
I'd expect the changes ( enforced or otherwise ) to be in the forwards.

Tyrone fans aswell, i would have thought there would have been more support for Roscommon saying both their teams are playing.

I think there could be a bigger than expected crowd tommorrow. The times not ideal for donegal supporters really, but I read in a local paper that 5000 tickets were sold in the county, but they expect up to 12,000 donegal fans to travel with tickets bought via ticketmaster etc.. Roscommon have both teams playing and have a loyal fanbase, so do kildare, who wont have to travel far either.

I would love to see roscommon win, and i think they are well capable of. But I have a feeling tyrone will come out and put on one of those performances where no one could beat them on the day.

GAA Discussion / Re: Hardcore Puke Football
July 20, 2011, 04:57:18 PM
I honestly dont care what people think about the way Donegal play football because most people are just jumping on the bandwagon and calling it puke football so they something to complain about.

I still find the games as entertaining as any other game to watch (and I dont think this is because im from Donegal). Its still a game of football, which can be played whatever way a team wants. And donegal have racked up some impressive scorelines, with some of the best scores of the season so far.

These are great times for the county so nobody cares what others think! Not only have they won their first Ulster championship game in 4 years this year, but they have won ulster after playing the preliminary game which has only been done once by armagh since the 1940's i think... (dont hold me to those facts...ha). We have travelled all over the country being told we have potential, like many other counties believe they have too, only to leave matches with tears in our eyes after getting another hammering - but now we have a hard working team who has finally brought a real buzz to the county.

The only thing starting to annoy me now is that people are reading into it so much now that they are getting so narrow minded and believe their county play the "proper" way. EVERY county deploys tactics to win, Donegals has been the most effective this year though

Cheers, fingers crossed I get it off work now... working in a bar so would be torture having to have it on but not able to sit down with a pint to watch it!

Hey I'm just wondering if anyone knows will it be possible to buy tickets at the gate for the Ulster final this year? I know its an all ticket affair but surely it wont sell out? I'm asking because its 50/50 if I'll be able to get the day off work for it so I don't want to spend money on a ticket if I cant go!

Despite Donegal getting lucky with the red card incident on McMahon Tyrone have no one to blame but themsleves. Should have been 6 points ahead at halftime and like the Dublin game last year when the game was in the melting pot couldn't close it out

In both games you thought Tyrone would squeeze through but couldn't find the scores and were hit by a sucker punch at the end.How much this is down to the age of the team is hard to fathom.

Donegal did not play well for long spells today but will not care about that on Ulster final day. For years Donegal were laughed at that they had good players but no dedication. Now they are putting in serious effort people are complaining about their style of play.

Agree fully with this whole post. People say its not nice to watch, but its still a football game regardless and teams shouldnt have to play a certain way to please their opponents fans. Tyrone should have put this match out of sight in the first half and they have no one to blame but themselves for not.

I think its fair to say both teams played badly...And I dont think it was because of gameplans, i think they both did play badly aswell.

Tyrone are definetly not finished though and both teams are better than they showed today I think. (Hopefully)

And by god brick, absolute hero now, but if he hadve missed the goal we would be shouting at him for not taking his point!

Love the way he never leaves an opportunity to get a goal, not scared to shoot

I dont care what people say about it not being nice to watch donegal play, if your their own county was doing this and winning games they would not be complaing im sure.

I think its been a great start to the championship with Carlow, London and Leitrim getting good wins and the ulster and connacht finals maybe not what most people would have expected at the start of the year. Its great for the game in my opinion.

McLoone was lucky to stay on the pitch today, actually I was wondering is it possible for him to get banned from the final? I see he was crying (or atleast very emotional!) after the game, but I thought seen as the ref dealt with it it cant be changed? Anyone know for sure? But overall I thought the ref was a lot more picky with donegals over carrying and tackling than with tyrone....maybe im biased tho...ha

McGee and Lacey as always were brilliant, and McHugh had one of his best matches ever in county colours!

I think Roscommon will win by 3 or 4 points but paddypower odds are way too short!

They've gone a three point handicap, and you think they'll win by three? How is that too short?

The match odds is just the correct price when one team is perceived to be three points better than the other.

Yea I get your point, but I mean thats what I think the result will be, but I dont think its worth putting money on as its going to be such a tight game. I dont think Roscommon are worth 2/5. Worded it a bit wrong just.

Yea both Murphy and McHugh are meant to be fit to play, was swelling on a knock that Murphy had and McHugh had shin splints. Both needed rest more than anyting for those injuries.

I think Donegal will win by 4 or 5 points but the first 20 minutes will be where the game could be decided. Cavans young players will be on a high from the U21 run they had and also will be busting a gut to try and impress in front of a big home support on their championship debut.

But Donegal will likely keep Murphy, McFadden and Molloy close to the square and try and unsettle the young defenders as early as possible.

I dont think Donegal will be as "negative" as against Antrim. they needed to win in front of a home crowd where they hadnt won an ulster game in 3 years. And the conditions were terrible! They showed in the league they can attack well and the criticism is a bit harsh in my opinion! They will open up a bit in this game hopefully.
They defend in droves but also attack in droves when they want to.

After half time I think Hegarty and McBrearty will come on and really kill the game off for Donegal.

I honestly think if Donegal can see off Cavan, a win over Tyrone would set them up for a very good run this summer!!! (Hopefully!)

I think Roscommon will win by 3 or 4 points but paddypower odds are way too short! Leitrim will be on a high but this Roscommon team are a very close knit and focused team so i cant see them losing, I can even see them giving the final a good shot aswell if they get there...
