QuoteRumours of half 4 Saturday.

Lovely choice between a small fortune in a hotel or a late spin home!

More importantly not ideal having a days less rest.
Is flying down  from Dublin not an  option for Armagh fans?

farranfore airport  has a rail station a few hundreds yards away that will take you straight into  Killarney. Probably the only airport in Ireland with such  good rail links

Quote from: balladmaker on June 15, 2026, 09:18:25 AMKerry v Armagh probably be Killarney on Saturday night, what you reckon?  would leave it a 6 day turnaround after yesterday's disaster.

A room in Killarney on Saturday night going for E600+ ... like WTF lol
No lights in Killarney so they can't play it too late on Saturday with the possibility of extra time/pens. A lot will depend on TV, RTE will be pushing for this one and they've Tailteann Cup and hurling on Saturday so if it's on RTE it's likely to be 1.30 on Sunday as Cork-Offaly is on at 3.30.

You know it's on around the date of the Summer Solstice where it's bright 'til after 10:30!
As long as they're not thinking of a 9pm throw-in, I'm sure they'll be OK 🙄

Just because it's still bright at 10.30 it doesn't mean you could play football in it. No one could rule out penalties  (especially with Armagh's history!) and the last thing anyone wants to see is a penalty shootout in fading light with half the crowd struggling to see what's happening. 6pm would be fine but any later and if it goes beyond the opening 70 minutes all it would take is a few dark clouds to start to cause problems.

6pm? Are you nuts?
At 7pm at this time of year, the sun is as high above the horizon as it is at 2pm in February.
What dark hole do you live in?

Quote from: Aaron Boone on June 15, 2026, 10:44:30 AMStrange Killarney has no floodlights after big chunks of development at the stadium.
RTE are locked in with World Cup fixtures so don't want the hassle of a heavyweight GAA match

A number of county grounds have issues with no floodlights because they're surrounded by residential areas. Nowlan Park quite prominently so.

Return flight is 16:35. So a one day is not feasible. Last train is not selling seats either.

One where it's grey and cloudy for most of the year, including in summer!

There's no issue at 7pm and if throw in was at that time you'd be looking at the match finishing around 8.45 or so when it would still be bright. But they have to allow for extra time and pens if needed and in that case with all the messing around that goes on it's hard to see a penalty shootout starting before 9.40 at the earliest and sunset is at 9.55 this weekend.

It's very unlikely to happen and I expect Kerry to win in normal time, but if it did and penalties were being taken in bad light it wouldn't be a good look. Don't think it would cause the players any issue given they only need to see from the square to the goal but I wouldn't fancy being stood at the other end trying to see what was going on 150m away.

GAA+ had a schedule out at the start of the championship that only allowed for showing 3 games this weekend.

RTE are showing hurling Saturday/Sunday and there's two Tailteann cup games - wouldn't rule out Monaghan v Westmeath not being shown anywhere

fking hell the price of accommodation in killarney is ridiculous.
kerry should play in croke  as its near enough a home ground for them

FWIW, RTE are scheduled to show one round 3 game  next weekend, though would that be one of three  scheduled games on GAA+  or the game that GAA+  is neglecting?

Didn't know that - could be Tailteann Cup neglected in that case, RTE to show one Round 3 game and GAA+ to show the rest potentially

Always thought that unless Kerry beat about this stage they won't be beat. This is the making or breaking of them. I think it's the perfect time for Armagh to get them. Though as is said here whether armagh beat them another thing.

If we'd a full compliment I'd be fairly confident, but then again with a full compliment we'd have beat Louth. Still worryingly light around the middle and lose defensively.

RTE has one of the Tailteann Cup semi finals on RTE 1 or 2 then the other one is on the RTE News Channel.

GAA plus has 3 games and RTE has 1 in Round 3.

Same can be said about Kerry and their injuries.
