This guy attends most of Utds home matches and has done for about the last 20 years. Id say he is well able to judge what UTD fans are capable of chanting and would not defend them had he heard. He heard them chant something about Suarez nothing else.

Oh right, so he DID hear the chants, and he looked into their hearts and knew what was there. Bless

Ah right - condem a man you have never met for something he did not hear. Ok.

He said he heard the chants. They were neither Suarez or Hillsborough-specific. But somehow he knew they were about Suarez. I think it far more likely that the chants were about a newsworthy item than something that happened months ago. But clearly I have reckoned without your friend's psychic ability.

Dieseach,

How can you condemn Maddog's friend yet give MUST a clear run?

They are both doing the same thing.

I take the point. MUST have a long statement condemning Hillsborough chants. It's a huge step forward. maddog's friend, on the other hand, has said that "what was reported in newspapers was bollix". So while there is common ground between what they said, they're not the same

He heard them chant about Suarez, he didnt hear any chant about Hillsborough, he is not saying there wasn't any. I think that is fairly clear.

I will ask him, the bit about the newspaper i should have explained was against the backdrop of newspapers stirring up shit when there isnt any, we were actually talking about the bit of Joe Canning sensationalism in the independent which led us on to this. He was just expressing his opinion.

Good, ask him and get back to us. I'm intrigued to hear this Suarez-specific chant that some Man Utd fans were singing in a match against Wigan.

If they were able to chant something about Liverpool or scousers at a match v Wigan would it surprise you if they chanted something about Suarez ?

The chant that has been mentioned is "It's always your fault, it's always your fault, always the victim, it's always your fault". Nobody is disputing this chant was given an airing and, given the week that's in it, it seems highly improbable that it was about Suarez. So yeah, I'd be very surprised if there was a Suarez-specific chant at Old Trafford last Saturday.
