We will never know the answer to this but my guess is Clonoe would have put up a much better showing than Glenullin if they had made it through Ulster.

Clonoe definitely took their eye off the ball against the Cavan champions.

Unfortunately for Clonoe to reach an AI final you have to be on it every game in the championship, cant let the eye of the ball once as you will get punished for it which they did.

Third time lucky in 2027  ;D  ;D . Cavan system is equally as flawed as the Kerry one so were playing a Division 1 Cavan team. Although Clonoe probably consider themselves a Senior team as well. Glenullin's final performance very similar to Clonoe's Ulster Semi Final performance, just never hit the levels they were capable off.

Greencastle is another team who are sinking. IMO could be playing in Grade 3 next yr.
I have always depended on the kindness of strangers. All Ireland Club - 2030.

Quote from: Sean Og Patriots on January 07, 2026, 10:00:25 AMBeragh with 28 players at their collective gym sessions from 2/3 weeks prior to Christmas. Great turn out to say the least regarding their low population. Everyone buying in to it. Heard a few teams in the East have been running the roads together. That's the thing now with club football most players aren't going out to become better at football, its more that everyone is looking after themselves.

Can we really sit here and say thats a joke? Its not like teams are training on the pitch 2/3 nights a week like they will be soon. People on here are not with the times at all.

Collective training organised by the management team 5-6 months before the league starts is a joke, people wonder why so many young players are getting out of the game, it is unreasonable to expect players to make that kind of commitment to play club football. I have worked with a lot of so called top managers, most of them work on a minus 6 week rule, they get the players together 6 weeks before the date of the first game, that's not to say they don't advocate the players getting together 6-8 weeks before that to do gym and/or running sessions, so lets just say 3 months in total, but this carry on of getting collective training in place 5 months before a ball is kicked is a joke.
Hunger and enjoyment are 2 vital ingredients, you can't have hunger if you are doing it every week, enjoyment goes out of it when you are doing it every week, it becomes a chore, that's the last thing you want as a manager. Quality not quantity...most players nowadays are looking after themselves physically, so you're not starting off with men coming back 2-3 stone overweight like back in the day, when people realise that you have to have enjoyment and hunger, they'll see better results, only team that should be training collectively in Tyrone at the present is Clogher, fair play to them!

The last communication from the CB, as far as I know, is that with 7 starred games year a mid April start is possible. Minus 3 months and that's this week.

Part of the problem is that teams have no idea when Week One is.
County convention said season would start in May as clubs had no desire for change that would lead to an earlier start.

What changes would give an earlier start that aren't applicable for May?
Including the U20's in the starred game system where the starred games go ahead without the county U20's and seniors would solve a lot of the problems, it's the U20's that held up the league last year and likely to this year too
Personally think the May start date works well for footballers. Playing football at the best time of year on the best pitches. The additional two starred games and potential holiday period being last weekend of June and first weekend of July allows a good schedule to be put in place and no hold ups in July then waiting on Tyrone in All Ireland Semi Finals and potential Final.
Potential Calendar:
1. 15th May **
2. 22nd May **
3. 29th May **
4. 6th June **
5. 13th June **
6. 20th June **
7. 10th July **
8. 17th July **
9. 24th July
10. 31st July
11. 2nd August
12. 9th August
13. 16th August
14. 23rd August
15. 30th August
CCC circulated that the Pre Season competitions are going to be played from 15th March. Further confirmation regarding League dates will come in the next few weeks. Holiday period will be in July.

If its S&C they are quote correct in their approach as its injury prevention and development of strength & power, that takes time and consistency. Team out before xmas running not required. Time enough in Feb.

Pomeroy followed by Moy. Then Gortin, Greencastle, Beragh and Rock.
Derrylaughan will struggle without Carney's scores.

Surely Carney will be back from injury before the start of the league?

From what i have heard he will not be back for this years league, he will possibly be back for the championship, still rehabing from that horrible injury last year.

Hearing rumours Gortin players have been asked to pay a pretty penny for mcnultys services this year. Thoughts on charging your home club if true?
