£3m policing bill so far

Yet unionist MLA's continually  talk about wasting resources .

Answer me this - does the likes of big sporting events/concerts  have to pay  for the use of police resources?

In the Free State very much so. And the Gardai decide the numbers and units needed and charge accordingly, no arguments.

Quote from: Harold Disgracey on September 30, 2026, 11:43:30 PMNolan awful, now I remember why I don't watch or listen to him. Fair play to Dessie Trainor, I thought he acquitted himself well.

Not sure if you agree with me but I thought it was bad taste inviting Dessie onto the show as he's not trained (I wouldn't have thought so) to handle the media and them feckers taking advantage of him on the show. He did do well TBF but he looked vulnerable a bit and them rats facing him would not have been ideal for Dessie.

The one question I was hoping he'd ask them was directly to Buckley and say "are you an Orange man", which he would have ansewered "yes" and then Dessie should have asked him "Can I as a fellow Portadown man join your lodge". knowing too well as a Catholic that he would not have been allowed and then ask him "if your organisation is such a sectarian organisation then why would you want to march through a Nationalist area when there it a clear alternative route available to you to get back to your Hall/Church".

Dessie was only there because his mother was a protestant. Several times Buckley and Bryson referred to the 'mob' on Garvaghy Road while Dessie sat and took it.

What is disappointing is that Nolan never presses the unionists or the OO as to why the march has to go down the Garvaghy Road. Their stock answer is tradition but traditions change.

Unionists also say that they have the backing of the law. The high court stood by the Parades Commission decision, but that decision was made on completely inaccurate advice from the PSNI. That is why the OO will not be rushing to submit another application.

Yes, that's the counter to the tradition argument.  It was traditional to burn women at the stake as witches 300 years ago for thinking or acting differently.  Times move on.
That's just, like your opinion man.

Very proud to stand with the residents of Garvaghy Road when the call first came out.
If you are asking did I support the Soviet Union, yes I did. Yes, I did support the Soviet Union.

So if this continues, or escalates, that £3m could become  God knows what. And if the OO /DUP persist with this , they wouldn't care if that bill  reaches 300 million

Unionism really isn't doing itself  any favours , are they? The Brits have been  telling Stormont they need to revenue raise , but Stormont keep  asking for more money. Surely it's only a matter of time before Westminster realises wtf are we throwing money at these numpties when it's spent on the likes of  policing this

Make the OO pay  for policing bills, and  ALL contentious marches will be  consigned to history. It's  the only way forward, for everyone

bennydorano

Sure Unionism can say the £3m bill is caused by the GRR? Don't think you can lay that bill at their door if you look at it objectively.

All part of Jamie Bryson's Culture War, on sale now for £16.90 (I kid ye not). Nobody is asking why this demand by the Orange Order has resurfaced even when the agitator is in the room.

In defense of them, I know I know, they have applied for all of the 28 years (to the best of my knowledge anyway). The only difference is they were legally allowed this year. Difference is the chief agitator.

"Is this how we would be treated in a new Ireland" is all I read on repeat from social media. Umm how many approved marches...

It has worked well for Lockhart and Bryson. It's disgusting but this is probably more than they ever thought they could achieve. Legally march, accuse O'Neill of not being a first minister for all, make (daft) people think they aren't equals, SDLP in for the upholding law but too. Disgusting but it's worked.

The Mary Wallopers playing  on the Garvaghy Road now apparently

Lock a Love Ulster banners and we might have a meeting of minds?

Tried to watch Nolan back there on demand, more out of curiosity, and couldn't get past the opening monologue - before even getting to the lopsided panel of Orange shites he had sitting there. Just horrid stuff and shameful on BBC/TUV to allow that level of attack on the residents. Worse he's getting.
