Good source that the document said back the way you came or down the Garvaghy Road but with the psni unable to guarantee their safety and not removing any protesters.

The hate between both sides still strong, that's bred into the next generation and so on..

Fixing Health economy education infrastructure housing employment do not even come close to solving a centuries of struggle.

No doubt Marty will say 'we ain't bitter' lol

The old two sides chestnut again...we see you a chara.

Trying to blame the residents of Garvaghy Road in all of this...hate...and bred into...

The above is basically a party political broadcast for the Alliance Party.

You haven't been on social media much then?

I've come through plenty in life to have my own opinion on things based on my lived experiences.

I'll judge it as I see and hear it. If you ever take the blinkers off you might come across balanced a bit more

But in case you are in any doubt, that march or any other contentious march in other places should never be accepted. Alternative routes should always be given

Dialogue, compromise, partnerships, moving forward, healing, respect, honesty, acceptability.. give me a political party that has that at their core I'll vote for them.

Please point out where I've mentioned specifically the Garvaghy road rubbish bit though

None of us are getting out of here alive, so please stop treating yourself like an after thought.

"Breandan Mac Cionnaith is a hero btw. We were panicking at 3am until he landed in, formed us into groups and then we were standing proud, even as the heavens wept"

Amusing anecdote I read from someone who was there.

What a strange thing to say.

Where you hearing that?

Is that not a very sizeable concession by the GRRA?

Not true. Interestingly the determination is only operational between 8-9-30am on Sunday morning.

I really can't see that being accurate as a matter of law.  Certainly PSNI and the OO don't think it is and it wouldnt accord with my reading of the statute

Maybe I picked it up wrong but it was mentioned at the meeting tonight. Maybe it was 'a' Sunday during that time? Would that be correct? Darragh Mackin was also in attendance and seemed to confirm that.

Nolan a big cause of Bryson coming about, mostly through the Jim Allister, who fun enough lying very low.Think Carroll gonna beat Bryson here.

Nolan awful, now I remember why I don't watch or listen to him. Fair play to Dessie Trainor, I thought he acquitted himself well.

I know Darragh is of that view and has expressed it publicly, it was also widely reported that a legal challenge based on that was lodged on Tuesday but I don't know if that is correct and I certainly don't believe there was a determination on it

As soon as I saw that convoy of PSNI Land Rovers heading for Portadown I was immediately reminded of that bogus Stormont raid of 2002. Somebody in the PSNI stirring it.

My impression of why this has all blown up:

1 - Donaldson getting sentenced, Brexit backfiring with the Irish Sea border, rumblings of a border poll, and the drumbeat for Irish unity getting louder. Unionism under pressure and feeling like they're getting outmaneouvred at every turn.

2 - Jamie lost-more-cases-than-Heathrow Bryson becoming more familiar with the legal system

3 - Some shit-stirrer in the PSNI spots a weakness - the requirement for a parade to be "likely to cause violence" or words to that effect, in order for the Parades Commission to rule against it. What if we just quietly pull that little fuse and see what happens?

4 - Parades Commission gets its statement from the PSNI that violence is unlikely, and in following its own procedures has to allow the parade to go ahead.

5 - Legal ping-pong through courts and appelate courts results in the pro-Orange side getting its way.

6 - Both sides dug in and not budging. Orange insist the matter isn't settled, residents insist it is.

Do I have it right?

Eamonnca1

For the PSNI to say that "there's no evidence of there being a risk of disorder" as a result of the parade going ahead, and "we can't guarantee youse boys's safety if you proceeed" seems to me like a contradictory position. If the PSNI's assessment of the likelihood of violence is the lynchpin of the entire ruling, it seems to me that it's not a very strong one. Surely there's a legal path to reinstating the ban based on that.

Not a person I have followed much over the years but Gerry Carroll wasn't exactly what you would describe be as 'slick'on the Nolan show.  In truth I thought Nolan and his chronicles ran rings around him.

Yes it wasn't great. No harm to Gerry or Dessie but neither of them were as you said slick. Gerry is too argumentative and then doesn't get his points across well. Needed someone with a bit more cool to just keep pushing the point that the source of all the trouble is a parade that isn't wanted, isn't traditional has another route and to get on with it. Jon Burrows is some c*nt saying he is all for mediation yet was all for the parade to go ahead right from the get go with not a single thought or care of how it would all inevitably go.
