Agreed on all of that gallsman. This whole thing is just bigotry and the DUP probably doing a bit of opportunism now.

Bryson is in it for himself. His alliance here will blow up at some point. How this guy gets such a platform and s beyond me.
Whoever in the police was reporting to the PC that all would be grand for the parade to go ahead needs to resign.

Thank god whoever was calling the shots didn't send the cops in to try and beat innocent people off the street.

The police didn't report that everything would be grand all they stated was that they didn't expect there to be violence. A perspective that has proven to be correct.

The Lodge have called for senior police resignations.

This idea needs to be resisted and beaten back publicly and loudly by nationalist politicians.

The bastards are trying to come out and demand that the role of the cops be to enforce every legal decision, regardless of consequences. That they go in all guns blazing so to speak. Of course, it only matters to them when there's a ruling in their favour. When it comes to bonfires, flags etc, they've no interest in the rule of law or having the police enforce it whatsoever.

There is obviously going to be anger on both sides at the PSNI for differing reasons, but the fact they didn't try to force the march through and batter the residents and protestors off the street was clearly the "right" decision. At least we've progressed that much in 30 years.

Quote from: imtommygunn on September 28, 2026, 08:55:46 AMSomeone needs to pressure Lockhart on what she is suggesting when she says "profound" consequences. Is that a threat? Who is she threatening on behalf of?

The orange order complaining about a lack of policing plan. They had two days. Also what they probably mean is why weren't the dirty Fenians beat off the road.

The pure hypocrisy of Unionists, especially these past few days, needs to be called out by every Nationalist in every interview. Unionists and in particular the gruesome threesome need called out every single time they speak. The time for treating them with kid gloves is long gone. They need to come under serious peressure with questioning.

I'm absolutely fuming that this can of worms has been reopened, and come the elections next year, I know where my vote is going.

I'd say that was more down to luck than anything. Would have taken very, very little to spark something off. Plus (if true), why the need for extra resources if they didn't expect any violence?

Quote from: gallsman on September 28, 2026, 09:01:29 AMLockhart is forging her own hard-line, far right path. She's essentially guaranteed her independence from formal DUP leadership the way a lot of their other MPs have done for years over the last year or so. For her this is about ambition.

This is an interesting one here. She seemed to go off on a solo run with this whole Drumcree thing alongside Bryson. There appeared to be very little from Robinson/Little-Pengelly (from what I could see anyway) until yesterday when they probably had no choice but to back Lockhart. Once Robinson gets going, he does love sticking the boot into Sinn Fein.

Yep 100%. Thank god cool heads prevailed. Well done to everyone.

SF need to direct their ire at the PC. It looks like they messed up administratively which allowed this whole mess to start up again. But then instead of having the balls to say, yes we messed up our paperwork, That's been addressed, and we are upholding the decisions that have been in place for the last 28 years, They have capitulated to pressure from Bryson and friends.
I fully expect them to throw the PSNI under the bus. And if they were providing inaccurate information then they absolutely should be under the spotlight too.
SF need to focus on the processes that came to this idiotic decision. So it has to focus on the pC or the PSNI. And they need to get either one to acknowledge that there were errors and they underestimated the impact, and for the decision to be readdressed. That is the only way out of this mess now. It removes their argument that they are legally within their rights.
Either way that should be SF's focus. The PC were spineless and bowed to the pressures to take the heat off themselves for making an admin mistake. Or the PSNI were knowingly providing false info (they couldn't fail to understand the impact of this decision).

It's not over yet. There will be some sting in the tail of this I think.

Bin boy is a sc**bag. He got his arse handed to him on the radio this morning.

Pengelly is a nobody. A puppet. Has been beaten at the ballot box on numerous occasions and is reliant on the goodwill of the wider party leadership, none of whom were involved when she was parachuted into different constituencies left, right and centre. There are plenty of stories about where her her push came from, and why.

Robinson is similarly weak. He owes his seat in Westminster to Iris being a randy hoor. There is nothing about him that screams "leadership" whatsoever. He has no capacity to put any manners on some of the senior ones like Campbell or Wilson.

I think Lockhart realises that and is going on a solo run to make sure she doesn't get swallowed up as just another member of the next generation.

To be honest, I wasn't sure. I am now!

The only long term benefit that I can see for unionism is that they can use this as an example of how reconciliation within N Ireland has not been achieved and therefore there cannot be a border pole. Whilst reconciliation is not mentioned in the GFA it does get mentioned every so often by people who should know better as being a condition for a border poll and unification.
That reconciliation is mentioned as a prerequisite is perhaps the greatest incentive for any unionist to ensure it does not happen.

We've come a long way from the worst days obviously, but proper reconciliation with those dinosaurs just is never going to happen. Need to reconcile with the ordinary Protestant/unionist and show them that a United Ireland can and will benefit their lives. Those other morons will never listen no matter how many olive branches are held out.

Could it not be argued that as long as NI exists we cannot have reconciliation, only in  a united/new Ireland will it be possible.

Robinson comes off as a big mummys boy attemtping to channel Paisley.

There was mention of "finishing the 1998 Parade" on a quick survey of FB.

The silver lining is its a wake up call & its useful to get the goon squad on camera and social media revealing themselves.
