Look-Up!

Enjoyed the game, good contest at least. Dublin should be very disappointed after that. Some great chances to really turn the screw on Kerry not taken. Some of their shooting and shot selection was very poor. You felt a goal could have ignited them but luck didn't smile. Kerry lucky with their goals too especially the second one. Were drifting at the time so timing couldn't have been better. Played some nice football but sloppy too when pressurised. If Mayo bring the work rate they have the quality also to not let Kerry have it all their own way.

I fear Mayo will  do what Mayo usually do in  AI finals

Lose?

Got the calls against Galway as well. Swings and roundabouts.

If Kerry go on to win two in a row is there an argument to be made that the FRC have improved the game but the drawback is they have created a Kerry hegemony.

What a truly bizarre couple of statements.

Hawkeye costs €10k per game and is only used for pts. Money well spent.

You can infer it crossed the line on known data.

But you can tra and twist away to yer hearts content. Knock yerself out  ;D

Is the ref going to finally blow his whistle?... No, he's going to blow his nose

Kerry playing a bland style of play but do have stylish players which helps. Not playing overally well but will probably win the AI

Can't they try and get the chip in the ball like over the water? Although not sure how practical that is and I know it wouldn't be for the club scene. Still don't know how the umpire next to that post didn't see it was over.

The ref got one badly wrong, the umpires got one badly wrong. The goal line one you could forgive since we have a slow motion replay and can't say for sure.

Much as I want to believe Kerry are favourably refereed, today was mostly a case of "the harder I work, the luckier I get".

The penalty (never a pen for me) required hard running and bravery.

The second goal came from two men in illegal positions just saying "f**k it, let's make things tough for their keeper and see what happens".

The Dublin "non" goal arrived during a half minute of incessant harrying and blocking, and included a tremendous save.

Contrast all of the above with one of Down's most experienced players yesterday, whose reaction to someone catching him and dispossessing him was to put his hands on his hips and watch the game.

Harder work makes luck.

They work hard them Kerry bastards, they really do.

Quote from: oakleafgael on July 12, 2026, 05:45:54 PMThe three big calls all went Kerrys way. Penalty, square ball and a goal not given when over the line.

Penalty was a penalty.

Square ball was badly missed.

Ball not conclusively shown to be over the line.

Ball not conclusively shown to not be over the line so which one do you go with?

Obviously you go with no goal.

For what it's worth, I reckon it probably was over, fractionally so, but lads getting on as if it's definitive proof of the Croke Park pro Kerry mafia need to have a word with themselves.

It looked over but I couldn't tell for sure.

3.1

A goal is scored when the ball is played over the goal-line between the posts and under the crossbar by either team.

I read that as fully over but who knows.

I have yet to see an angle that proves it conclusively one way or another. In those circumstances I think it's hard to criticise the officials whatever decision they give.

Is this season following last season? An absolute classic up til the semi finals then it completely petered out. That wasnt a great game added to yesterday's cake wake...good chance final could be a blowout as well.

Anyway, after the Tyrone v Kerry game and now this game I feel strongly that there should be a review style system in place for all games in Croke park from QF onwards. My thoughts are:

- each team gets 3 reviews, captain or management can call for them.
- basically the big screens could be used by the ref for definite calls on huge decisions.
- wouldn't take long to fire up the required incident on big screen for 2 or 3 run throughs for the ref to make his decision.
- could have reviewed Kerry's over the line goal and Dubs wrong decision very quickly.
- the Tyrone non award of 45 would have taken a review of no more than 10 seconds.

It wouldn't be VAR and only applied from QFs onwards as the technology is there and replays are usually shown after the ref makes his call anyway.

There's so much riding on the game and it's moving so fast that it's nearly impossible for refs to see everything. Plus to have mainly aul boys who are friends of the refs is pretty ridiculous in this day and age.

Qfs onwards should also have experienced refs on the posts as well.
