You'd have to wonder if the Ulster Championship is so competitive that it becomes more difficult to play outside of it. I'd have had three Ulster teams as potential favourites, and after all the hard slog in the Ulster Championship it will be the other three provinces providing the semi finalists.

I would like to play All Ireland series first for one year for fun. Random draw, backdoor.

Then play provincials after.

Definitely looked like Kerry were feeling it with their 3rd game in 3 weeks compared to Tyrone who were playing their 4th game in 11 weeks. Paul Geaney I thought in the first half didn't look anywhere as sharp as he did against Armagh. There was a least 3 different incidents in the first half were he seemed off the pace of the game. I was very surprised he wasn't hooked at half-time.

I thought it was Tyrone's third game in five weeks and Kerry's fourth. ?  Only catching up at minute.

That's a fair slap in the mouth for Monaghan, who actually played ok but there was just no living with that Louth outfit there today. They just refused to lose. Unreal fielding at times and incredible, dead-eyed efficiency once they got a sniff of the posts at all.

Both counties can look forward to good years ahead, and offer a great lesson to Cavan on replacing rhetoric with results - Louth, in particular, whose rise over the last five years is a template for underdog counties everywhere.

Dont think I have ever see a game where ref, umpire and linesman mistakes all were to the advantage of one team. Strange

I can see why the umpire got it wrong, it looked initially it hit defenders toe, got it wrong, thought the ref was going to have a sneaky look at the big screen on that one, the mark mistake could be as David described was a free given then impeded, think I missed that one, what was the linesman one?

No he just made a mistake on the mark one, plain and simple. Its at the start of the clip on this tweet.

I don't think I can tell from that clip. There's another angle I saw last night that made it look like his arm started going out for a free kick just before the mark was taken but it was very hard to tell

Then there was definitely a mistake by the referee as there was absolutely no foul before the mark.

I don't think it was a foul but something happens with Mark O'Shea and two of the Tyrone players. So I can't discount that the ref gave a free from something there.

You can never discount the evidence of the invisible infraction   However the ref clearly blew his whistle to acknowledge the clean mark, was watching the play develop, observed the dunt into the back of the Kerry player, blew the whistle again immediately and only then did he  indicate  to bring the ball forward and all to the great approval of the match commentator.

Hardly an invisible infraction.  Marc O Shea is is jostled by two Tyrone players then pulled by one and ends up on the ground, in my opinion not enough for free kick but hard to know what angle the ref has.  You cant see the referee in the picture on the angle on the tv and in the other angle that I referred to earlier you cant really see O'Shea as the referees looks like its starting to go towards the Davinn end goals but its not clear if its for the mark or the free.  Is there another angle to show this clear blow to acknowledge the mark?

Is there a difference in penalty between when a foul occurs within 4m of the mark rather than just preventing the taking of the mark by what would be an otherwise lawful challenge?

I can't seem to find a definitive answer from the rule book but that's hardly a surprise

No its still treated as the same play of the game. Blocking the attempt at a kick or immediately tackling within the 4m changes a mark to a free kick.

Sorry that's not what I asked, what I asked was is there a difference between blocking the kick/tackling after the mark and committing a second foul i.e. something that would be a foul even it wasnt committed within 4m of a mark for example pulling down the player.  Does the fact its within 4m AND a separate foul change the penalty over something that was only a foul because it came after the mark.
