The Orange Order, a loyalist organisation that counted Donaldson as a prominent member, said it terminated the membership of anyone convicted of a serious criminal offence.

I wonder what their threshold is for a "serious" criminal offence.

Donaldson was full of entitlement: Knight of the Realm; Privy Council; Orange Order; UDR; MP and the list goes on. He brazened it out with his victims to the bitter end, put them through hell one more time - the worst type.

It now appears quite a few politicians and journalists knew he was at least a liar and led a double life in London - why was he never called out?

Isn't funny how quick they all are in creeping out of the woodwork saying they knew he was dodgy because of x,y and z yet never said anything when he was such a powerful figure.

Spotlight on Friday will be an interesting watch....apparently goes in deeply on his double life,  heavy drinking,  prostitutes etc etc.  If it was as bad as it is alleged to have been surely there were questions being being asked behind the scenes and you'd really have to question the DUP having him as leader.

I'd say theres more than him like it within that outfit!

When they've been  convicted in court?

Although,  it was clear in  court  that Soldier F murdered  innocent people on Bloody Sunday, yet they still supported him.

The reason its not talked about with regards the double life in London is simply because they are all at it to some degree..

So that's why Sinn Féin don't take up their seats....to avoid all the temptations & vices that London can offer to the lonely politician.

I mean, for example, is throwing a few petrol bombs at Fenians ok in their book, i.e. what is their definition of "serious", as opposed to whether someone has been found guilty or not.

Other prisoners heckled him as he was taken through the process.

"They'd all been listening to the news so they knew he was coming on Monday afternoon. He was always going to get abuse and that'll not change anytime soon," said one insider.

Yeah it takes me about 10 days to get to speak to someone in prison on an emergency basis but they can get this info within hours. It's also not correct in terms of the machine used or of other prisoners in the immediate area

 Jeffrey Donaldson has given up his knighthood after being convicted of child sexual abuse.

The former leader of the Democratic Unionist Party (DUP) abused two girls over more than 20 years, in crimes covered up by his wife.

The "deceitful" ex-politician is facing jail after being convicted at Newry Crown Court on Monday.

Donaldson, 63, has requested to "renounce and forfeit his knighthood" in a letter to the Cabinet Office, his solicitor said on Wednesday.

He has also tendered his resignation from the Privy Council, which formally advises the King.

Honours can be taken away from recipients who are later convicted of crimes, and they are also able to renounce them voluntarily.

John McBurney, Donaldson's solicitor, said: "I have this afternoon issued a letter signed by Jeffrey Donaldson to the Cabinet Office indicating his request to renounce and forfeit his knighthood.
