Quote from: Blowitupref on March 21, 2026, 12:09:08 PMJust watched those two penalty incidents. Amad Diallo fouled and should have been the opportunity to go 2-0 ahead instead play waved on and Bournemouth make it 1-1.

The Bournemouth penalty, Maguire made the foul correct call and it was a goal scoring opportunity so correct call to send him off also IMO but the two incidents shows the lack of consistency with VAR once more.

Not VAR as VAR went with on field decision, neither calls would have been reversed by VAR

Had both been given fine, if both hadn't been given also fine, but struggled with the difference between the two

Thing about VAR is some weeks you get a bit of luck and other weeks you don't

United have been blessed since Carrick has come in. Should have been down to 10 men after 9 mins against City, Palace reduced to ten men for a defender breathing on Cunha after he'd ran on to make sure he fell inside the box, the red card for Newcastle was a strange decision too
Last nights was a 50/50 call seen them go either way.

Some crying about it.

Croke Park to host Manchester United and Leeds in August pre-season friendly
Croke Park will host a soccer game this August for the first time in almost 17 years.

Croke Park is set to host Premier League clubs for the first time when Manchester United and Leeds United play a pre-season friendly there on Wednesday, August 12.
It comes almost 17 years since the last soccer game played at GAA headquarters, a World Cup play-off that Ireland lost 1-0 to France in November 2009.

The staging of the pre-season friendly has been made possible by the windows of the GAA inter-county season and the Premier League opening and closing in harmony.

Because of the World Cup in the USA, Canada and Mexico, the Premier League start has been pushed out until August 22.

The GAA inter-county season concludes at the end of July with All-Ireland ladies football and camogie finals on successive weekends after that.

Manchester United have a huge Irish following and previously played a pre-season friendly against Athletic Bilbao at the Aviva Stadium in 2023.

But Leeds United also have a substantial following here, particularly among an older generation, and bringing them together on an Irish stage is sure to attract much interest.

Manchester United are due into Ireland next week for a training camp in Carton House and it's expected that the details for the game will be confirmed then.

They may also return to the Kildare resort in August ahead of the Leeds United game.

Croke Park has been broadening its reach to other sports with the staging of an NFL game between Pittsburgh Steelers and Minnesota Vikings last September. It has also hosted five Leinster rugby games over the last two years.

And there is growing anticipation that Katie Taylor will, at last, realise a boxing ambition to fight there as she signs off on her illustrious career, possibly in September.

Croke Park has hosted the most Irish college football team, Notre Dame, the most Irish NFL franchise, Pittsburgh Steelers, so it makes sense to host the Premier League team with the strongest Irish connection, Manchester United.

Hard earned 1-0 away win against the World Champions and United won with just one fit or non suspended centre half in Heaven and he was rusty and nervy. Great Cross by Bruno and finish by Cunha for the games only goal.

In good a position for Champions league place finish with some tough fixtures to play

moonster

Mbuemo has been very poor lately. Cunha has done well recently but missing tonight.

Armagh18

How the feck do they replace that man

Brentford standing in the f**king net. Arteta can feck off.

Put Bruno in a top team and he'd do 40 assists!

Thiago must have been on the dope before this game

how was that not a penalty for Brentford? defender's elbow moved to deflect the ball. The ref couldn't have seen it but the VAR should've

That's the crazy thing about VAR! No consistency

Casemiro should have picked up a couple of yellow cards for simulation at the end of the game.

Another hard earned 3 points and that wins means just three more points will secure Champions league football for next season.

The performance was a mixed bag of some really good moments with some very sloppy moments.

Without Lammens or if that game was played last year it was a certain loss, Casemiro opening the scoring after Amad,Maguire had big scoring chances. 2nd goal arrived at a good time and after a spell that Brentford wasted some big chances. A very good tackle by Amad in the build up and cool finish by Sesko

Brentford deserved their goal when it finally arrived, they showed tonight why they have lost just one of their last 10 Premier League games, Keith Andrews has them well set up and organised.
