    •    Glen — 7/4 (36.4%) → drop to 3rd
    •    Slaughtneil — 11/4 (26.7%) → drop to 4th
    •    Newbridge — 3/1 (25.0%) → favourites
    •    Magherafelt — 4/1 (20.0%) → 2nd
    •    Lavey — 14/1 (6.7%) → about right
    •    Bellaghy — 33/1 (2.9%)
    •    Steelstown — 40/1 (2.4%)
    •    Banagher — 40/1 (2.4%)

+ Missing:
    •    Dungiven and Ballinderry → should be in the next tier after Lavey

If you think different let's hear it
I would put Lavey,Bellaghy,Dungiven, Ballinderry all in the one pot. If they drew eachother it would be hard game to call.

Banagher, Swatragh,Screen, Kilrea and Steelstown if they happen to get a decent run would match eachother but are a fair distance behind the top 4 and 6 or 8 points behind next 4.

That being said they could be beaten by anyone who's left, they are probably closer to intermediate than winning senior championship.

I'd have Lavey in their own tier after the top 4.
Ballinderry and Dungiven both lost to Banagher in the championship last year.

I hear that from a few people! What results over the last 2/3 years is that based on?

They are decent side but don't see why they are being placed ahead of the other chasing pack?

Biggest issue they have is they are too small and thats the reason for putting Regan outfield in big games and keeping O Boyle in goals.
Niall Toner is a super player and their best forward but when opposition teams are facing Lavey do they fear him like other inter county players?

Were Lavey not unlucky to lose to Slaughtneil last year? Can't mind the details now tbh

They have been strong underage as number of years, those boys all a year older, whereas Glen Slaughtneils main men all a year older in the other way lol

They have one/two county level panelists returning to their fold

*Not a Lavey fan

I believe Balinderry will probably get relegated.  Glenullin give a good rattle.

The state of the Derry league is sad.

Used to be an excitement with the league starting, a lot of chat around it, buzz around the camp. A few years ago The Derry Post would be good reading with previews and predictions.

The last few years it's gotten gradually worse with a lot of senior teams made up of mostly reserve footballers and reserve fixtures unfulfilled. Is there any way of putting more emphasis on the league again or is it a dead duck?

Underage leagues started also. Check the website for the fixtures/results.....

I think Glenullin will give a good account of themselves but still a bit off the top sides.
Think Ballinderry should be ok. I'd guess Faughanvale for relegation from championship and Limavady to be relegated in the league.
The usual sides to compete at the top come championship time.

Brendan

Bit early to predict championship relegation as itll all come down to the draw, Ballinderry at championship time last year probably better than some of the teams who made it into the round 2 B or whatever it was called to face the first round winners thanks to a kind draw.

Limavady might get that promotion bounce and stay up

Liberation

Pal I think the Wolfhounds will give it a good rattle.  The Wolf hounds are coming together.

I think the media landscape has really shifted. Clubs now handle their own promotion, with varying degrees of success, and at the end of the day, most people only care about their own club.

Online newspapers are a letdown, but we've come to expect news for free, so their websites are cluttered with annoying ads. Credit to Mal and Alan for starting the podcast, though. With the season at this stage, it could easily be twice a week to cover both club and county action.
I do agree that the league's importance has been watered down. It's often seen as just a way to pick up points for survival and get players match-fit for the championship.
The county could do more to promote it, theres nothing from them. They should hype it up, stream select games like Armagh does, and maybe even get a sponsor to offer a prize for clubs. That way, there's something tangible to play for. Friday night lights would be great as well

Dead right. To be honest I couldnt even confidently tell you which teams and how many are playing senior league this year. But maybe that says more about me.

Whos in charge of posting fixtures and results on derry website?

Agree about Glenullin, now they have the age profile of the team down to about 34 I think they be flying.

Faughanvale will be fine, good up coming team who play decent football.

I'd be looking at couple seasoned teams to feel the pressure in the league. Maybe Swatragh, Kilrea, Steelstown and Screen.
Can't comment on Limavady never seen them play but they had impressive results last year.
I'd be surprised if Glenullin around above the bottom 4.

Glenullin will be fine, finish top half i think. Ballinderry fine also, top of the bottom half. Faughanvale in massive bother by all accounts, management gone and on the look out for someone new days before the season starts. Hounds could cause a few shocks but will depend on the start they have, lose the first couple and could lose them all, they still my pick to go down.

Is Cahir McGonagle finished with the soccer yet, I think we have a few steelstown men on here? Say what you want but I quite rate them, very strong in the middle I wonder if Gilmore ever got sorted
