I'm not sure what some of you want from a leader.

But it does seem that the no.1 sitting in the background and holding handing with everyone is important to some.

I'm not sure what some of you want from a leader.

Leadership?

No doubt belongs on another thread but I very much hope the FAI have decided to pay lip service on the Israel fixture until after the WC qualifier and potential WC, if they f**k Israel off now they'll be shafted out of any chance to qualify. Then after WC matters are resolved they give Israel a massive f**k off pill. Praying thats what they have in mind as it would be absolutely delicious especially if they got to the WC - though that in itself reeks of Trump the carpet bagging piece of shit

As for Jarlath, he was in a no win position regarding Allianz, short term he couldn't break the myriad of contracts in place, the true position of the GAA will become clear in the medium term

GTP

Leadership that agrees with your point of view or leadership that takes an unpopular decision about an issue as they believe it is in the best interests of the GAA?
After JB leaves the post we can go back to not caring who the President of the GAA is.

Quote from: Truthsayer on February 28, 2026, 05:49:36 PMHorrendous comments by Jarlath Burns after today's protest. Was people involved in the protest also lost friends to Loyalist murder gangs.

What are the horrendous comments?
Invoking the victims of the Glennane Gang to condemn protesters... many of those protesters also lived in Mid Ulster at that time and know all about the pain caused by the loyalist murder gang... and that's a fact.

He did similar before, drawing comparisons between the British Army takeover of Casement Park and the stance of local residents on the stadium redevelopment. Insensitive at best and was extremely unhelpful in the whole situation.

Lol are you mistaking him for someone who hides behind?

You might not agree with him. That's okay. I won't hold it for you against you myself.

But ffs do not try to portray him as an empty suit, just because his politics are different to yours.

You really call that leadership, blindly following a GAA corporate money grab while turning a blind eye to genocide? Big speeches on All Ireland day isn't leadership.

Is not wanting our money used to fund genocide an agenda? Leadership is allowing debate.. not blocking it.
Peter Canavans speech today showed leadership. Little wonder he captained Tyrone to an All Ireland title.

gallsman

Quote from: Truthsayer on February 28, 2026, 09:50:32 PMHe suggested today that protesters came into "our property". That in essence sums up Jarlath and the hierarchy. The protest today was packed with GAA members. It's not the property of a select few suits, who want to dictate to us.
The issue should have been discussed.

Hard working Gaels you mean, who put more work into the Association in five mins than likes of you do in a lifetime.

gallsman

Also would you like to comment on the hypocrisy and arrogance of Peter Canavan being part of these protests while continuing to participate in a show called Allianz League Sunday?

An Watcher

Would you prefer it if he said nothing and didn't appear?

At this moment I really couldn't care less what he does. His behaviour and comments this weekend have been appaling. The End.

Oh right, so that's the end of it. I dont think so.  Hopefully Peter's comments and actions will strengthen others to stand up for something that thry shouldn't have to.  The GAA should have the balls yo kick allianz into touch

I didn't say that's the end of the campaign! Jees! You twisted that one. It's the end of my interest in Jarlath. It's not his Association.
