Can we include Them with the cranky auld hoor's solo stuff? If so:

Gloria
Here Comes the Night
Coney Island

And a shoutout to the duet he did with Sinéad O'Connor, Chieftains on American TV (Letterman) of Have I Told You Lately. On YouTube somewhere. Powerful.

Similar to what I suggested about Clapton earlier on this thread, apart from 2-3 songs that made it into popular culture, you kind of have to go digging to find Van Morrison. He's been around forever, is musically respected, but he doesn't just happen upon you by chance.

I much prefer Van over Eric, all the same.

Days Like This is one of those that broke out, a proper sleeper hit, and is a wonderful song.

And it Stoned Me is a brilliant tune of simple reminisce.

I could insert 7-8 others here happily, but truth it was hearing Gloria that made me buy a few of his albums, and there'll always be that association. 3 chords done right way.

He sang some serious uplifting music for a dour f**ker. Maybe even enough to forgive Brown Eyed Girl. Maybe not. Oh I hate that song.

Edit: the Chieftains album was quite remarkable. Some missed, but some outstanding results. I loved their Carrickfergus.

Orior

Someone once said that if Van had been a good looking man then he would be known world wide.
Cover me in chocolate and feed me to the lesbians

Agree on Brown eyed girl. Awful song. Not as bad as  Sweet Caroline , but it's not  far off

As for the digging Wobbler , I've discovered some great stuff  on this thread from  others suggestions and  my own digging

Are you kiddin', Sinead was perfect, an angel, whereas Van was an asshole, out of tune and generally classless, most likely over inebriated.

DrinkingHarp

Into the Mystic (I believe one the greatest songs of all-time Music/Lyrics).

Tupelo Honey

Gloria
Gaaboard Predict The World Cup Champion 2014
