Quote from: bennydorano on November 23, 2025, 07:25:09 PMGot another value buy of Amazon used books section, Robert Webb's (Peep Show) Autobiography, How not to be a boy.  I'm only half way through but a great read, a lot of LOLS and some harsh home truths, changes tone very quickly at times, excellent so far.
Best Autobiography I've read, helps massively if you're a fanboy i suppose. Have bought his first fiction book - Come again, another used books purchase for £2.70.

Also have David Mitchell's Autobiography on Spotify audio books, but dunno if audio books are for me. Gave up on Duncan Ferguson's Autobiography.

Might give that a go.  I listened to his Unruly audiobook a while ago and thoroughly enjoyed it.

Any decent books on sports psychology?

Listening to Liam Brady's Autobiography on Audiobooks. Pretty run of the mill stuff tbh but enjoyable. He had the sense to get someone else to read it out, after my Duncan Ferguson experience I think that's a good move.

I approve of Liam not reading his own story, in fact nobody should, even Spike Milligan rendered his own humorous autobiographical book unintelligible.
An aside,
Liam (unarguably) is Ireland's most traveled exceptional footballer, not only being honored with top merits in England but went on to being a top player in Italy over 6 seasons. Any Irish person visiting Italy at that time and afterwards only had to mention His name to witness pure adulation of Liam the football genius.

On sporting audiobooks.  I recently listened to Martin O'Neill's book.  It started out well. Very interesting. But I felt it descended into a list of fixtures and scorers. A bland enough story, that I expected more from.

How much is an audiobook anyway?

Not sure. Most people sign up to a subscription service like Audible, which is around 6 quid a month.  I'd say an audio book would be double that in itself.

I have audiobooks as a part of my spotify subscription.

Generally on Spotify or similar rather than an individual purchase.

Ok, thanks for info. Might get Spotify if books on it.

To be fair, the books and podcasts alone make Spotify worth having. They are all there

Aren't audiobooks available free  on  library app?

Yes Libby is a good app if you have library membership in the north. Obviously not all books are available.
