Quote from: gallsman on January 05, 2026, 10:03:32 AMPresumably they're looking at the fact they're 3 points off 4th and Liverpool and Chelsea are hardly great shakes either. Better to get someone they trust for the final push
Did they not trust Amorim when they appointed him to the role?

I imagine they did, but as you may know, things can change over time.

For example, some people might have better things to do but then decide to have a few cans one evening and go posting on discussion boards in the middle of the night.

Perhaps you could confirm what appropriate times to post on the board are as you seem to be right on everything else.

Being as objective as I can. The PL is currently dire. It has been going this way since Covid, or perhaps before.

Think Premier League, think low blocks, inverted wingers, risk free football, set piece goals, and VAR ineptitude / corruption. Think Premier League and accept that the champions elect comprise a billion pounds worth of players, clawed together over 5 seasons to be able to repel physical play from opponents, while perfecting corner kicks. Think Premier League and think about the legions of middle rung, inconsistent players, earning £100k+ a week to play computer games and barely huff and puff on game day.

So really, how long until the PL loses its shine and is displaced as the "world's greatest league" by that of another European country?

Marketing can only pull the wool over the eyes for so long. Surely.

The thing is the actual games don't matter to a huge amount of fans. It's the reaction and making noise on social media that will see it continue to be top dog.

But I do agree that overall it's not as good as it was. A lot of balls lobbed into channels and hoping for set plays - even the top sides.

That being said I watched a bit of Serie A and it is dung. Just bodies bunched and no quick play. Even La Liga might look nicer, but a lot of innefective football being played and in the end you have the same two.
Watched Real last night and they get every 50/50 decision - I'm no Barca boy by the way.

It's a show and it still delivers drama.
them mysterons are always killing me but im grand after a few days.sickenin aul dose all the same.

How it shapes up with the way it's going with corporate tickets etc will be interesting. From what I can gauge it's becoming increasingly difficult for "real" fans to reasonably get tickets for at least some premier league clubs. Tickets are becoming prohibitively expensive due to corporate tickets and due to the pay £x and get to have dinner with an ex player etc.

The more local fans will struggle with regularity etc of that.

Great finish when it looked like Liverpool had the game won with 94th minute goal.

Bizarre bending of the rule to allow the Wirtz 'goal', with a new and unknown interpretation. If it happened at the other end, 100% it would have been disallowed.

Ah now pet.😄

Yesterday was the first time I've heard of this "tolerance level" of 5cm that you're allowed to be offside now. They used it to explain why the Wirtz goal stood. Apparently it's only in the premier league and the goal would be offside in other leagues.

Firstly he looked more than 5cm off and secondly, why have they used it here but not in other incidents this season were goals have been ruled out for an armpit or toe being mere millimeters off?

LiVARpool up to no good again.

Dag Dog

Amazing how they pulled this new rule interpretation (breakage) out of the sky, just to suit a certain club.
For everyone else, the bootlace offside rule has always applied.

1) The frame chosen by VAR (the correct frame) showed him within 5cm. The TV coverage used the following frame (incorrectly) where yes he appeared more than 5cm.
The actual frame is available online and shows Wirtz is clearly onside. The TV cameras have a frame rate half that of the VAR cameras, hence the discrepancy.

2) The fact that it would be offside in other leagues is completely irrelevant. Would have been a forward pass in rugby too.

laoislad

Are other fans really that triggered by the worst Liverpool side in decades that they still think VAR is siding with Liverpool. Bizarre.

Really not looking forward to this Arsenal game, will miss the first half, I hope there is a second half left to watch !

I see Chelsea have appointed their yes man anyway
