Quote from: J70 on December 09, 2025, 10:37:21 PMGood performance and a nice bit of luck with a penalty you'll get in Europe, but never in the Premier League. Wonder would VAR have seen it without Wirtz's comical dive afterwards? From the angles they showed, it was hard to tell, either way, if he would have got to the dropping ball without the shirt pull, but I've no idea if that is a factor or not.

There was no need for the defender to pull Wirtz back, so penalty for me.

I don't get how in the premier league a certain amount of pulling is allowed, provided it isn't sustained or some other nonsense. A quick pull and let go can deny momentum just the same as a longer pull.

Liverpool will be happy with the result obviously and it was a "workman like" performance with no gifted goals so that's a positive.

Serious questioning of Slot and VVD by the Amazon crew on Slot after the game, getting tiresome asking more or less the same question in different ways and it didn't sound like Slot was in a conciliatory mood just yet.
Have to disagree very soft penalty would have been fuming had it went the other way, if giving penalties for that every corner would end up a penalty.  The goal in first half was harshly ruled out so due a bit of luck.

Exactly the type of no frills win the team needed.

Liverpool as bad as they have been have kept clean sheets against Inter, Arsenal, Villa and Madrid this year but madly conceded three at home to Forest, 4 against PSV, three away to Leeds, to me this has to be a mindset thing among some of the players.

The result and performance will do nothing to support any pressure to play Salah at the weekend and sadly that is probably the last we will see of him in a red shirt. If he had of had the conversation with Slot privately and said "this isn't working for me I'm off in January I will keep the head down to then" he may have got the send off he wants against Brighton can't see it now.  If Slot plays him after that win last night and don't get a result v Brighton he will be under serious pressure again and be seen as weak for giving into Salah.

Brendan

Sad that its going to end like this for Salah, holding out for the mega bucks last season then his performances fell off when he got them

100% - some players struggle to get aroused for the more mundane games, victims of their own success in some sense

Most of them have a World Cup to prepare for so don't expect a cliff edge drop off

Every time I see Curtis Jones he impresses me, something of the McTominays / Ray Parlours about him, if they had faith to give him the starting jersey for 6 months straight I think he could push on to another level and make himself an integral part of the starting lineup

Good points.  Felt the same about the questioning - went on far too much and felt for Slot having to keep his patience.  He could and maybe should have closed it off at the outset by saying how disappointing the whole thing has been but that he's not going to say anything more publicly at this stage. End of conversation.  All this talk about reconciliation etc.- just can't see it. As Slot more or less said, the player himself has to recognise if he has overstepped the line here, and I don't think Salah believes he has, or cares very much.  He's done at Liverpool, which is a great pity.
That's just, like your opinion man.

Captain Obvious

Salah prepared to do anything to get onto the pitch.

Would guess the root of the issue hasn't changed (i.e he's no longer a guaranteed starter and he doesn't like the idea of that very much) so this is only about optics and making sure the club get a decent fee for him.  Wouldn't sit easily with me that he might get game time against Brighton in the same week that he thrashed the club, the manager and his teammates basically. Best for all if he goes in January.

Why would you give him the best contract ever and not make him a starter? Bonkers, for a business that has done some cracking deals this is really strange.,

Slot this year really has tried to put his own stamp on the team after just carrying on from Klopp, it hasn't worked out, unless they play in Europe
None of us are getting out of here alive, so please stop treating yourself like an after thought.

They did make him a starter and he was kept in the team longer than anyone else would have been. Salah will probably point to the change of the personnel in the team or Alexander Arnold leaving or whatever for lack of service.  But he's been very poor with the ball at his feet  and that's down to him. This bad form stretches back to February. So it's long term.

Routine win against Brighton today, Salah with assist on the 2nd goal
Is the ref going to finally blow his whistle?... No, he's going to blow his nose

Starting to look at league table again. Only myself to blame when spurs beat us next week 🤭

Nice to have a no fuss with very little drama win. Brighton had a few opportunities but Liverpool were comfortable and in control for most of it.
Some finish from Hugo for the first goal. The first touch was almost as good as the finish.

Just need to keep going , top 4 surely is the only aim for the League, plenty of teams around it so need to just keep winning points and not worry too much about exciting football, no frills wins like today will do for now!
