Surely the big men from Urney wouldn't be running to the police? Anytime i have been there there have been a few try flexing the muscle's over the fence.

But agree with the other poster. Regardless of the pitch, it shouldn't happen. Both clubs should have the pitch closed for a year.

There's brawls every week in the sport, I remember a few years ago in Cookstown a man pulled a blade and went at the referee.
The Gortin man that clipped the child deserved a hiding if you ask me.
As for closing the clubs, be nothing about it. The county board will say it's a police matter and that'll be the end of it, shambles

Wildweasel74

U got thumped on the street, would u ring the police likely, why any difference here.

Never happens in GAA, stealing money in clubs, assualts, all washed under carpet, not getting at Tyrone, happens all over Armagh and the other 30 counties. It's like a cartel.

Sperrin_Rambler

Don't know about anybody else, but everytime I hear/watch the spear tackle video I think of The Waterboy

Both clubs deserving of hefty fines. Don't see the police investigation getting very far, given Urney and Gortin's respect for law and order

GAA Club Fan

No doubt both clubs own this but the County Board appear to lack the desire to tackle these brawls any more.

There have been 2 or 3 this year, and I don't believe there was any action taken.

Is the messaging part of the issue.

Like any county board in Ireland, it'll be brushed under the carpet.

And next year, they're be this sort of racket in plenty of counties.

Munchie

Unfortunately someone will be killed or seriously injured at some match, u16 in my experience is mental, parents are awful.

Jerome

First thing that needs to happen is that it needs to go back to the old disciplinary rules of striking is a month ban/4 game ban. The one game ban has never worked.

'Tyrone GAA said it took the incident 'most seriously' and is 'working closely with the clubs concerned'.'

Were there quotes for the other high profile brawls we've witnessed this year?

I struggle to see how the CB rightly investigate this one and ignore others.

Sean Og Patriots

Very quiet in here so il say something while I can to put the lid on to next yr.

Loughmacrory creating history and breaking the ice for the so called "upcoming" teams which will no doubt give them an extra inch going into next year, while also now Loughmacrory must deal with the "b2b" pressure. A great year for the parish and a day that will never be forgotten in LMC.

Clonoe may as well go to Croke park now and lift the All Ireland Intermediate Title. Sore on them making them wait to January before collecting it.

Clogher will represent Tyrone this weekend. Be interesting to see how they go. Hope they go the full way along with Clonoe
With Div2 next year this will give them a head start on a lot of teams and will no doubt stand by them next year.

Thanks all for an intriguing club season yet again, hopefully this time next year the young cubs of Domhnach Mor push on.
If its not next year its the year after.

Dream big aim high young bloods.

Joey Clarke for Sam.

We clutch our pearls, get on our soap boxes, demonise clubs and demand massive repercussions. We blame trivial things like fences or refereeing decisions. We forget about it and then it occurs again with some other clubs. Rinse & repeat. Since time began. It's never changing and there are no clubs squeaky clean, if we're honest. Which we often aren't.

Was the last witch hunt Coalisland v Eglish? Did we ever hear what came of that?

Coalisland got promoted and Mark Loughran was given the county final

If clogher can't bate the Fermanagh junior champions out the gate they may forget about it. The big one is Emyvale. Their first round game v Carndonagh May have been the final

Ridiculous how that was just brushed over and forgot about. There used to precedent of closing pitches and even kicking teams out of the competitions after such incidents, surely that would start as a first deterrent for clubs, followed by fines and then suspensions if culprits can be identified and they usually can be identified.
