1-0 good cross and Ferguson couldn't miss that.
Is the ref going to finally blow his whistle?... No, he's going to blow his nose

GTP

Poor since they scored (and before that)

Had all the momentum should be really pushing for a second but it's all a bit ugly

That's the 2nd top class save by the Armenia goalkeeper.

1-0 it finishes. Elsewhere Portugal 2 Hungary 2.

I think they said he conceded 7 in previous 2 games and he'd be a bit shaky. But he's been very decent.

Hungry sneaking a draw at the death doesn't help
None of us are getting out of here alive, so please stop treating yourself like an after thought.

No it does not... up to that Portugal had qualified and would have came probably half hearted to Dublin.
Not to mention the 1 point got by Hungry!

Truthsayer

Ket... can't see qualification and in very unlikely event of a play-off would need to meet a very poor team to progress. God be with days..

Captain Obvious

First home win in a World Cup qualifier since beating Moldova 2-0 eight years ago.

Portugal   only realistically need a home win v Armenia  in  the last game to qualify, so they  might still come to Dublin half hearted.

Portugal are no big  shakes (although they're clearly better than Ireland) , but a 1-0 for Ireland is not  beyond  the realms of possibility.

If Armenia draw or beat Hungary at home , then it's  a winner takes all situation in Budapest for  the play off spot.

We really needed Portugal to win tonight and let us beat them in Dublin. Our chances of a playoff look slim now. We will need 2 wins in the next 2 difficult games.

Portugal 3rd string would beat Ireland. Maybe Armenia will take points off Hungary in Armenia and then it's a winner takes all in the last game. But Hungary are a much better team than Ireland.

Sums it up really! Ireland are third rate nowadays.

weareros

We scrambled a point at home against 10 man Hungary and scrambled a win at home against 10 man Armenia. Winning against Portugal at home and Hungary away, ah sure no bother.

Pub Bore

Result aside, that performance was absolute shit on a stick.  The inability to retain possession against 10 men ranked 106th or something in the world was frightening. Some of those Irish players can't pass the ball 5m.
