Quote from: Dag Dog on October 07, 2025, 10:49:02 AMSenne Lammens had a very promising debut at the weekend. Stopped the shots and commanded the box.
If the keeper issue is now sorted, the club need to go all out and sign Adam Wharton to bottom out on the central midfield problem.
Once that's done, Utd are as good as any of the title chasing teams.

Why would Wharton move to a mid ranking team from one playing European football and challenging for a top 4 spot again this year?
Probably to play for one of the biggest clubs in the world.

Them were the days!

Amazing what a win at home to a newly promoted team can do.

The three wins they have got in the league two at home to newly promoted teams and one playing a team with 10 men for basically the full game 2-0 up when the ref evened things up.

At selling jerseys and having official partners for haemorrhoid creams..

You are aware of the huge debt hanging over United, £1B at the last count and still the Glazers take their whack...

Sacking canteen staff and all that.

Not a good look for one of the "biggest" clubs in the world.

You're right - those wins shouldn't count /s

Like I tell our young lads, don't get too high over a win, don't get too low over a loss. With Manchester United it is the opposite of that - for our own supporters and opposition fans/media etc.

Hated, adored, never ignored.

Top half should be the target for United this year, maybe nick a place in Europe.

What's the story with Rashford... is there a chance he ends up back at Old Trafford - Would love to see him back with us!

Didn't say that they shouldn't count but to claim they are an Adam Wharton away from being able to compete with the top sides is a nonsense.

Unlikely with the current manager but if there was to be a change ... possibly. Question is how would most fans feel about it?

So far this year they've beaten teams at the bottom of the league, lost to teams at the top and are currently mid table. And improving their midfield, widely recognised to be lacking, won't take them closer to competing with the top sides? Doesn't sound all that nonsensical to me.

"Utd are as good as any of the title chasing teams."

Better players than Adam Wharton have failed miserably at United. You are talking about a hypothetical situation anyway he doesn't play for United and may never do.

They are miles off City, Liverpool and Arsenal and that's without having to compete on the European front. (Also out of the League Cup to mighty Grimsby Town a competition they should have been targeting to go deep in)

Milltown Row2

I'm nearly sure I heard ones from another club saying the league cup is plain useless and winning is worth diddely squat!

The dreaded vote of confidence?

QuoteJim Ratcliffe has said he wants to give under-pressure head coach Ruben Amorim three years in the job to prove himself.

The Portuguese coach has a contract at the end of the 2026/27 season, by which he would have been in charge at the club for two and a half years, with the option of an extra year.

Ratcliffe said the 40-year-old manager is a "good guy" and has time to turn things around.

"Ruben needs to demonstrate he is a great coach over three years," he told The Business podcast, produced by The Times and The Sunday Times.

Asked if Amorim is going to get three years, Ratcliffe replied: "Yes. That is where I would be. Three years. Because football is not overnight.

"It's three years. You also look at [Mikel] Arteta at Arsenal. He had a miserable time over the first couple of years.

"We have to be patient. We have a long-term plan. It isn't a light switch.

"You can't run a club like Manchester United on knee-jerk reactions to some journalist who goes off on one every week."

Is the ref going to finally blow his whistle?... No, he's going to blow his nose
