Good players at underage but a few years later are bang average and have had a lot of injuries.

Like a lot of young players, they got through a lot of underage with the family name.

Have St. Brigid's regressed a bit this year?  They should have a good pick of players in that area. Would they be the top football club in Belfast?

Was Brolly ever on their senior management?

A year isnt a lot of time however they did look flat in their single knock out game against dunloy.

Heard all this before...

How'd that end up?

Who cares how good they are if they are poison. R O'N is a good clubman and incredibly well liked in SB so if what is being said on here is true it won't go down very well in Musgrave.

Quote from: NorthAntrimSaff on October 02, 2025, 03:30:23 PMIs flatness the managers fault or the players? Seems to be a big turnover of players for them? Was it 2 forwards remained from the previous year i think was mentioned on the commentary

Maybe thats what caused his departure? Not enough Downeys from previous years playing and more st bridgets lads

Also nothing to do with the chairman - was a players vote. The meeting was called by Shea downey.

Shea had nothing to do with the initial fall out in Lavey.  It all stemmed from his dad being told the club wanted to take a different direction from him being involved with the senior football management.  Seamus and Henry eventually threw the toys out of the pram and told their lads that they had to move too.

A lot of talk about something that isn't very believable and its opened it up for people to abuse, calling a family 'poison', wise up!
Some time goes in to taking a senior team if your local or not, and its even more admirable if it is your own club if you ask me. So fair play anyone that is doing or has done it recently.

This isn't accurate at all.
It was a players meeting with an anonymous vote arranged by Shea. We all seen the messages.
Vote was originally planned to not be anonymous until other player(s) objected.
Fall out only happened once downeys lost the vote.

Exactly. Your club is bigger than any one person or any one family. Falling out the way they did is a crying shame.
I'd like to think wise heads can prevail and they can return. Lavey are a real good community club and you'd like to think they'd welcome them back.

I see the Belfast schools amalgamation team came up short in the Rannafast but its good to see some Antrim representation in A schools competition,  its badly needed.  The panel is on the link,  would like to see the clubs for each kid, anyone know?

HealthySaff

Great to see. Paddy Kelly deserves all the credit for pulling this together. Fair play. Much needed.

bannside

Totally. Paddy Kelly put in some shift during his five years. This position will need filled shortly and its vital the right person steps up.

Hectic

Anything like that viable on up the county?

Randalstown, Ballymena, Ballycastle and Carnlough take a lot of clubs into their catchment.

Two Antrim teams, covering the majority of clubs, competing in A level colleges would be a great grounding for upcoming talent in the county.

Belfast a good start regardless.
