Just seen the venues for this weekend and next weekend's fixtures and completely agree with this point.

Don't think I've ever spoke to a player or supporter who likes Pomeroy as a championship venue. They can't control the weather or being on higher ground but it can make a mess out of a good game on paper. Hopefully the new rules can lessen this effect as seen in Dromore v Edendork

Don't get me wrong, the Plunketts have done fantastic work up there on the new facilities and credit to them but the conditions have ruined some great ties over the years.

Which clubs do you think are being left out? Suppose they have to meet requirements with internet for tv etc

Coalisland don't get many games. I think it's a great venue for matches.

Carrickmore a brilliant venue for games. Real good atmosphere. Personally would bring the Intermediate and Junior finals there as well rather than an empty Healy Park.
I agree coalisland could be better utilised, floodlights now as well. Stewartstown another good venue for Intermediate and Junior games.
Pomeroy should go the way of Edendork and Dunmoyle and be given less and less games. As stated here no one wants to go to Pomeroy to play a championship game.

O'Neill park Dungannon has the best atmosphere and conditions for championship games in Tyrone

Historically it always has been - when Tyrone played there in the 80's/90's it was brilliant. Place was packed for every county game and big club games

Their set up has vastly improved since then as well - fair play to them

I would say players would pick Dungannon & Carmen as the best venues for club championship.

Pomeroy, Edendork as the worst closely followed by Omagh for any game except the final.

Plunkett park has the second best facilities in the county for a game and nobody can tell me any different.  State of the art changing rooms, carpet like surface, stand and terraced the whole way around. Name another club outside of omagh that can boast that. For any of you ridiculing pomeroys facilities, you'd need to have a look at your own clubs first. Granted sunday was an awful day but you'd swear Pomeroy was the only place with wind and rain. The conditions in dungannon for the carrickmore v Moortown game were awful. Score wise Dromore v edendork had the second highest total of the senior championship games played. To say carrickmore is a better venue is ridiculous. Granted there may be a good atmosphere but their changing rooms are far too small and their surface is like a swamp at this time of the year.

O'Neill Park beats Plunkett Park for atmosphere.

Pairc Colmcille has 3 covered stands.

Different club grounds have their own uniqueness.

My point is Plunkett Park is the second best ground in Tyrone facilty wise and for posters on here saying they shouldn't be getting games is ludicrous. The Kerry folk, journalists included who travelled up for the league game earlier this year to Plunkett Park couldn't have been more complimentary about the facilities and hoped games in the future could be played there.

Not sure if players like Pomeroy or not but a spectator I find it ok.
Dungannon by far the best. Can also remember county finals and Tyrone playing Ulster championship games there. Great venue and better now with the stand. Carrickmore good too.
Omagh a soulless kip. Hate the place.

Quote from: Sean Og Patriots on September 17, 2025, 12:57:16 PMClonoe will win it at their leisure. Clonoe will win their next 3 games by more than 6pts. Eglish could maybe tussle them if they meet in the final, although meeting in the final would be Eglish best chance. Cookstown to lift the junior cup 2 hrs before Clonoe lift Intermediate. Clonoe cant choke again.

Different mentality with them this year!

Sean McCabe also banned by Clonoe Committee from umpiring. Strange thing to happen so late on in the year, unless there was a recent event to catalyst this decision?

Ciaron Mcgee being poached by Coalisland Fianna - The club he grew up supporting & played for, until he was 16 he then moved down to his neighbours.  Although it is one of the strongest teams coalisland have had in recent years *ON PAPER*. Coalisland could make Div1 after all, which would be a game everyone would be licking their lips for next yr. Kick them when they down AND KEEP THEM THERE!

If we get past Lough next weekend, We will have some flowers and flags out for the County Final - because we will most likely walk the semi (if we dont meet EC).

Bitter Coalisland man . Paul Coyle Harps

McBride - Im not a Coalisland man. If i was id be far away from any public discussions right now.

I have always depended on the kindness of strangers. All Ireland Club - 2030.
