Quote from: brokencrossbar1 on August 29, 2025, 01:07:27 PMPlayers reflect managers. Players reflect culture. Players reflect heritage. The team is reflecting an overall toxic workplace. No real motivation,  organisation,  scatter gun approach and scatter gun results,  but very reflective of United pre-Ferguson. He was the anomaly but the club never evolved. The Glazers are part of the problem,  Ratcliffe is part of the problem,  ex-players in the media are part of the problem, Salford-centric media as a whole is part of the problem. Chopping and changing managers and approaches is not the answer but I don't know what is.

New ownership is the only answer. Every successful organisation has the right leadership at the top.  New owners  won't guarantee success but the right owners coming in, making the right appointments at the top of the club, and the ability to make good decisions, is what is needed. This will carry on for as long as the Glazers have control.

That's just, like your opinion man.

Did the foul(pulling of the shirt)not start outside the penalty area?
SHOCKING REVELATIONS!!!

gallsman

It was "sustained", i.e. it carried on inside the area, albeit marginally.

A penalty under the rules but in situations like that, Amad throwing himself to the ground should cancel it out. Dunno how your shirt being pulled from behind can make you tumble forwards.

He only came on in the 85th minute but Mazraoui is more of what United need. They were a complete mess at the back at times.

Blowitupref

Silly shirt pull/foul by the Burnley player costing his team a point in Old Trafford. Was pressure on Bruno Fernandes on that penalty after the one he missed last week.

Man United continue to waste big goal scoring chances and at the other end poor Goalkeeping remains with or without Onana.

Looks like a spell on the sidelines for Cunha after injury.
Is the ref going to finally blow his whistle?... No, he's going to blow his nose

VAR saves Man Utd 😁

Amad loses the power of his legs when he gets to the box and ref gives penalty for "sustained" tug which clearly started outside the box, plus he was nowhere near getting on the end of the pass, association fitbaw really is an embarrassment, as gallsman said the dive should have cancelled out any penalty award, should have been a free kick edge of the box

Let it go, let it go

Teams get penalties that look soft, we could throw up plenty examples
None of us are getting out of here alive, so please stop treating yourself like an after thought.

Take out the Grimsby game and it's not a bad start to the season, could do with 2 or 3 points from the Chelsea and City games but probably a tough ask, the break will suit United, get abit more training into the new boys and gwt them up to speed, hopefully Cunha and Mount arent out long

I was over yesterday with the kids. Entertainment that's for sure. Deserved win, could've scored 5 or 6 in 1st half. Mbuemo and Bruno were excellent. Amad good also going forward, would worry about his size as a wing back. Good to see Mazroui back. Dalot messed up for their 1st goal then redeemed himself 2 mins later. But he is never defensively great. More keeper error.
Zirkzee had a very poor game when he came in. Mount did well I thought when on the pitch.
VAR is ruining football though.
Kids loved the drama so a great trip. Sesko had a couple of chances,
40M for garnacho equates to 120M as a academy player.  A new keeper would be nice. A defensive midfielder and necessity if rueben is to stay on.
Atmosphere was good also I thought.

Yeah but seldom with VAR intervention. I agree a ref could see it as a penalty in real time but there's no need to re-referee the game, especially to award a penalty for such a debatable foul.

VAR being used wrong. Meant to be for a clear and obvious error. If you've to watch something back 5 times from 10 angles it's not clear or obvious ffs.

Looking back on the incident now. More brain dead defending than a debatable foul.

Hard to argue with that.

If he doesn't go down, the ref likely doesn't give it
