Is this the worst result in Utd's history?

In my life time they played div 2

Any team can lose a penalty shootout

Honestly I never thought a Leeds-style descent was possible. Starting form higher, and with such a firm base.

But it's on.

They were 3rd tier, Grimsby are 4th

Oh yeah that game!  8)

I was more going for, is this the lowest ranked team they've ever lost to? (hence the worst result in their history).

Yeah but not every 4th tier club can get to the stage where they have the opportunity against a 1st tier side.

Did Grimsby not beat Liverpool in same cup? And Northampton?

Yeah but it was 3-0, at Old Trafford

Worse than losing 7-0 to Liverpool at Anfield?
Worse than losing 5-0 at home to Liverpool?
Worse than losing 4-0 to newly promoted Brentford?

Hard to say.

Quote from: Milltown Row2 on May 22, 2025, 05:20:36 PMSeason is over and out, god knows how they go next year, but at least i can't get any worse :o

Didn't take can long into the new season to show things can get worse. A first ever cup exit to a 4th tier league team.

Last thing a club that's in a mess off the field needed was to appoint a media friendly rookie as manager, who is proving to be a downgrade on Ten Hag. Jim Radcliffe and Co will need to act swiftly in order to avoid a relegation battle.

Dag Dog

The usual suspects (and their multiple aliases) are out in force tonight.  ;D
Firstly, Utd drew the match and lost a shoot out.
They played better than Arsenal on the opening day, and Arsenal may well go on to lift the title this year, since their rivals have gone backwards.
They were a rare Bruno penalty miss from beating Fulham.
All this with an entirely new front 3 just signed and not familiar with one another.

Yes, you're absolutely right. United have had an excellent start to the season.
