Yeah, GAA clubs in every area should be applying for the provision of new GAA pitches, especialky in bigger towns etc.

Put the pressure on.

Truth hurts

has anyone a list of the GAA council facilities per council in the 6 counties

Quote from: BigGreenField on April 30, 2025, 09:07:31 AMEast Belfast having to put out a statement clarifying they are only using a council facility at Cairnshill on a temporary basis.

Presume local agitators have been making noise again. City is coming down with soccer pitches, god forbid a Gaa club might wish to book some council facilities.

If the Gaa made the same demands on councils as soccer the City would need to provide another 20 Gaa pitches, at the minute any dog and his mate can start a soccer team, enter a league and expect the council to find them room.

If the soccer lads are feeling the squeeze perhaps they could stop inviting non city teams into the Belfast leagues, effectively a national league largely being run on Belfast pitches and paid for by Belfast ratepayers.

Boils my brain.

Wasn't there a soccer club going irate in Sally Gardens, Poleglass about GAA clubs booking "their" slots? The audacity for them to book GAA games on a GAA facility.
Was all over Facebook at the time iirc.

What were they complaining about?

Something along the lines of they had standard bookings for years for soccer training at specific times,  in their negligence, when it was time to rebook for the next year,  they sat on their laurels,  left it to late and complained because GAA clubs had booked it before then.  It was a FCFS basis I believe

Would there be much outside of Belfast? I wouldn't say it'd be a long list.

There are council GAA pitches at Malusk or are they owned?
None of us are getting out of here alive, so please stop treating yourself like an after thought.

What council is Mallusk? I think Mallusk would be council. I don't know that area well but are those pitches only recent?

Mallusk 0playing fields has been Belfast Council land for as long as I can remember, the pitches have also been badly maintained and covered in dog crap for that period too.

That link reminds me that Belfast Council have been reviewing their pitches strategy for 2 years and are yet again delayed. Public consultation closed 1 year ago and no outputs yet....possibly waiting to include Casement as a newly developed Gaa pitch in the city

Mallusk pitches have just recently been upgraded with 2 new GAA pitches, formerly soccer pitches.

You can see the brand new catch nets from the M2.

The pitches are between the changing rooms and Chimney Corner Hotel, so are different pitches from where I have been to games before.

Allen park also has a 4g GAA pitch and I would imagine it is Council owned.

Still, there should be a lot more facilities made available for GAA.

Yeah noticed the pitches from the M2 the other day also
