I had plans myself to visit America this April and opted for a holidays elsewhere.

Quotenew analysis from Goldman Sachs reveals that Donald Trump's disastrous policies could cost the United States a staggering $90 billion in lost tourism and export revenue.
And it gets so much worse.

Tourism has been cratering as Trump shreds America's global reputation and his border agents continue to detain, terrorize, and deport innocent people. Reports of Europeans being improperly held for weeks have terrified tourists.
Last month, tourism plummeted 10% from the prior year with a 14% dip from the United Kingdom, 27% from Ireland, 28% from Germany, and 34% from Denmark.

Canadian flight reservations for the summer season have dropped by an astonishing 70% — directly impacting American businesses and vendors that rely on tourism. Some hotels are reporting an overall 25% drop in bookings from Europeans.
In addition to fears about traveling to the increasingly authoritarian United States, many foreigners are choosing to boycott and spend their money elsewhere. Trump's tariffs and hateful rhetoric have destroyed our national image.
According to Goldman Sachs, some $20 billion in retail spending from international visitors could evaporate into thin air. Coupled with the tariffs and the skyrocketing cost of goods, this all amounts to mass economic suffering for the American people.

In the worst case scenario Goldman Sachs estimates a massive 0.3% hit to the GDP, roughly $90 billion.
Trump's so-called Golden Age is turning out to be a new Dark Age.
Is the ref going to finally blow his whistle?... No, he's going to blow his nose

Won't be near the place in the next 4 years.

I see potential J1 students are being warned about their socil media accounts.

Agents at the airports can check their phones for anti Trump etc. support and good chance they'll not be allowed in.

Big Brother is watching.

This kind of stuff will destroy the US tourist economy.

Remember when JD Vance was lecturing Europe about suppressing free (right-wing) speech.

This has been happening since your man came in. It's been going that way for a long time.

Especially anything  relating to Palestinians is grounds for deportation. Antisemitism means pro Palestinian in Trump's animal farm.

I live here, but I would not recommend anyone visit the US the way things have turned. You'd probably be fine, but you just never know, which I guess is their whole point. Scare people into staying away or leaving, with the fear of being randomly targeted for disappearance based on a tatoo or a meme in your phone, just like they tried to do when they stole kids from asylum seeking parents in 2018.

Echoing J70's point.  Stay the f**k away.

Thinking of just getting a burner phone for  my next visit to Ireland.

The present day axis of evil.

The United States voted against a U.N. General Assembly resolution on cooperation between the U.N. and the Council of Europe because of its language regarding Russia's war, according to a letter from Jonathan Shrier, acting U.S. representative to the U.N. Economic and Social Council, dated April 16.

The resolution passed despite U.S. opposition, with nine countries voting against it – the United States, Russia, Belarus, Eritrea, Congo, Mali, Nicaragua, Niger, and Sudan.

In Feb 26 the U.S. declined to sign a WTO statement condemning Russian aggression.

Last month, one of Donald Trump's most trusted aides laid out a playbook for a no-holds-barred assault on America's elite universities. The president has been following it to the letter since. "We're going to bankrupt these universities," Leo Terrell, head of the newly created federal task force to combat antisemitism, told Fox News. "We're going to take away every single federal dollar." If they did not play ball, he warned, they should "lawyer up, because the federal government is coming after you".

The US have been checking social media accounts for years. This is not a Trump thing. Someone i know got a notification on Linkedin- "department of homeland security have viewed your profile". This was before an entry visa was approved. This was in the Biden years, not Trump.
Bit of clutching of pearls here from some people. If you don't tweet "death to America" all the live long day you've nothing to worry about.

See Trump going to the popes funeral, that's all they need, that attention seeker at it.

Does Trump have dementia?

Donald Trump said Chinese President Xi Jinping had "called" him, despite denials from Beijing that talks to ease trade tensions between the world's two largest economies had started.

The US president also made the claim that he had sealed "200 deals" on trade, even though no such pacts have been announced.

"You have to understand, I'm dealing with all the companies, very friendly countries. We're meeting with China. We're doing fine with everybody. But ultimately, I've made all the deals," Trump said in an interview with Time Magazine published on Friday

Sorry, didn't see this before now.

I disagree. As I said, you'll probably be fine, but the issue is the complete unpredictability of the targeting they're doing, the fact that CBP officers are looking through people's phones at immigration, the "mistakes" they're making when arresting and disappearing innocent people ( and then abandoning them), and the fact that they're pushing the notion that US citizens could be put through their ringer. Just this morning Bondi is claiming that ICE officers can now bust into your house without a warrant if they "suspect" someone is in there. This is full on authoritarianism.
