To give a lad his first big game introduction in an AI final replay against Galway and then to rain a lot of high ball down on him and back him to take Aidan Harte (I think, might have been Coen...) out of the game when they had a stormer in the first day was ballsy of Brian Cody.

He as you say wasn't the stereotypical KK hurler, cack hander and a bit awkward in the striking of the ball, but always caused trouble when on or introduced into a game.

Diarmuid O'Keeffe and Matthew O'Hanlon finished up with Wexford too.
I can't see them being in the shake up for Leinster this year.

I remember he was taken off near the end of that game, when it was pretty much wrapped up. He was obviously elated, and went to try and give Brian Cody a big handshake, but Cody just blanked him. Took the wind out of his sails a bit, but he should've known better.

It would be a good haul in most counties but in Cork it's a let down, not of his doing as for most of his prime the Cork teams he was on lacked a defensive backbone.

We're supposed to be upset that Hoggy boy didn't get his 'deserved' All Ireland. There is a truckload of better hurlers than him with the same complaint.

I'm not in the Hoggy fan club as I think there's always been doubts about his ability to win his own ball and even disappearing when Cork needed him most, but he's still a high end hurler all the same, didn't get a celtic cross and joins a long list of lads like that.

No biggie for me.

Take frees outta every player then and the stats will still show he'll have scored a high percentage over others that haven't had a Celtic Cross.. As I said, not my style of hurler but saying there are truck loads ahead of him is over the top

Without Patrick Horgan it's doubtful Cork would have reached back to back All-Ireland finals. Big void to fill and will be interesting to see how Cork do without him and under a new manager in 2026

Jack O'Connor got very little gametime last year with Cork and is cutting it up again in the club championships.

Cork are fairly well stacked for forwards and free takers currently, it's defenders who defend they struggle with.
