As mentioned already, quite a number of Waterford boys of yesteryear would rank ahead of him, Ken McGrath in particular. Brick too. Few Galway lads like Ollie Canning.

Truck loads though? Not sure.

Legend. Declan was one of the sweetest hurlers I've ever seen. He made the game look easy.
He played a huge part in Limerick's run of success and was the best possible ambassador for Limerick hurling.

"To JP, Noreen and the entire McManus Family, thank you for your unwavering support to Limerick GAA, both locally and nationally, your support has been extraordinary. I can't thank you enough.

Deccy Hannon was Kiely's general on the field on what used to be an unruly and ill disciplined crew.

Yes, they do have the odd onfield issue but nothing like what they would have had historically.

Hannon was key to getting that discipline on the field as well as being a great hurler in his own right.

He'll go down as a legend of Limerick hurling over time.

Jason Flynn gone now too. Another of the class of 2017 departs the stage. He was an important part of the win that day when he came on and steadied Galway.
He was a lovely hurler who had all the tools - speed, skill and height.
Maybe there was more to got out of in him the last few years. Always a man worth having on the field though. He owes Galway nothing and was part of the golden generation that broke the All Ireland duck.

Always thought he wasn't trusted by the last few Galway managers, probably because he was very inconsistent in terms of performances.

He'd all the attributes to be a top class hurler and showed glimpses of it throughout his stop start IC career, but was never a banked on starter for Galway for whatever reasons.

Has a Celtic cross in his arsé pocket all the same.

Burkey leaves the fray now!  :'(
A gem of a player, great wrists and silky skills. He could mix it with the hard men too when he needed to.
His winning speech in 2017 is as iconic as Joe Connolly's in 1980.
Another player that Galway will find hard to replace.
