Would you be allowed Pat, a few Patalikes, Deets, Dion, Mark, Philly and Thomas all on the pitch at the same time, do we have enough bibs?

Was Oisin mc conville not asked since he was manager of Wicklow and Doran his no 2,I'm trying to understand this imminent appointment of Doran, very strange unless an experienced mentor alongside him

The fact that we are October nxt week and no manager appointed is worrying.

4 matches on one day in October at Owenbeg, pitch will be in some state

That would be a positive as it would compensate for the high level experience that the potential new Manager does not have.  With Derry being in D1 Mark Doran will be coming up against management / coaching teams of vast experience and who have delivered from a provincial and some at a national perspective.

MH took over the team last year when morale was high and all went well until post the league final (Portugal).

MD coming in with morale I would imagine not great and definitely do not see them contesting for a league title next season, in terms of championship they have fell down the pecking order a bit.

For the 3rd time, who?

You don't need a good sod to hand pass the ball back and forth around the 45, so maybe nobody will mind.
Does seem to be risky having 4 games especially if the weather was anywhere close to today's. Although the long range forecast for 6 October suggests it will be dry.

Quite the opposite surely?

The latest incarnation of the stadium pitch at Owenbeg could take more than 4 games in a day

I wasn't being too serious, but some of the sterile possession football you get these days is so slow and laborious I don't think the condition of the pitch would make much difference.
It would be a long day for a supporter or volunteer to be sticking around for all four matches.

 ;D

You know what, if I was about next weekend I'd be there for the day. There's a chip van there too now for nourishment. Could end up going and queuing for a fish supper during a game!!

GTP

If you could get in and out during the quadruple header you could go into Dungiven and pick up a nice ice cream in the Spar for dessert.

Back to GAA with a hurling prediction for the weekend, winners in bold. Hopefully the pitch survives.

Quarter Finals shouldn't even be in Owenbeg

Not sure about that. It's a really good venue and very central.
