General discussion / Re: Today FM Sports

At least Collins mentions GAA, that asshole Michael McMullan does my head in. You're lucky if he mentions GAA at all in his sports round ups. He's not just anti-GAA, no other sport than soccer gets a mention. I've nearly crashed the car on several occasions in fits of rage at him!!

GAA Discussion / Re: Armagh’s Dyas Headed for Oz

Spirit of 91 and 94, that's some sh1te to come out with!! An Riocht were really shooting the lights out in Down before Clarke left. I'm presuming you were at neither match. Dyas, for me, was the reason why Dromintee performed so well the first day as he basically run the 2nd half along with O'Neill.  Cross kept him quiet in the replay sure but it's expecting a lot from a 19/20 year old to dominate two games in a row against the best club team in Ireland. Can't comment on how Dromintee are going to miss him but there's little doubt that he was going to have a major impact on the county set-up before long. That said, good luck to the lad, and similar to Martin Clarke I hope he comes back to show off his talents in Ireland before long.

General discussion / Re: Ireland v Italy Rugby
August 28, 2007, 11:13:42 AM
Opened this thread up to read 5 pages of analysis of Ireland's team and performances and instead find 4 pages of political CRAP! Lads would ye ever feck off with this!! It's the same crap ruining thread after thread.
As dinny states, back to the rugby, I think EOS's decision to leave Gleeson at home could be our undoing, he knew that Wallace is carrying an injury and how he expects to win any ball on the ground without an openside flanker (if wallace gets hurt) is questionable. Friday night also proves that we can't do without BOD (with him and D'arcy acting as openside flankers along with all his other skills).
I do think that Paul O'Connell and a number of other players will up the ante considerably for the Argentina and France games.

GAA Discussion / Re: Harte and the Tyrone public

Orangeman, look what happened when Canavan was sent off, Tyrone imploded. "taken to bits" by Armagh, you have to laugh!! He was pulled out of a row he started himself by the shirt. I know you're not allowed to touch GOD but it was hardly "taken to bits". Another thought occurred to me whilst watching Mugsy hit incessant wides on Saturday, the "you take it I don't mind" scenario over the last free kick with Peter Canavan in 05 semi final. Once I saw Canavan was going to take it it was going to go over, but I'd put my house on Mulligan missing it. It was ALL about Canavan in the semi final, he set up or scored your last three points. Mulligan is not a leader.

Tommy Lyons has to be the greatest shite talker on TV.  Spillane (another tosser) has great craic in taking the pish out of him and treats him with disdain. Of all of the much criticised pundits on the Sunday Game he should be the first to get the boot.

GAA Discussion / Re: Joe Kernan Resigns

TYP, Cross were playing the Ogs in Keady and were in big trouble with a few minutes to go. SK went down injured (cramp I think) and John Mc shouted across to the trainer to "take him off, he's useless anyway".  John Mc was allowed to cool on the bench for a long time after that.

Aghdavoyle, interested in your comments on McIver. Do you feel that he is over-rated? From the outside looking in, he was in charge of Dromintee when you probably had your best chances to beat Cross. Did you feel that you lost those games on the bench? You were within touching distance of Cross (hopefully still are). Did you feel a better manager could have taken you further?
Not sure whether his time with Donegal has improved his CV, when the pressure of championship came on the players reverted to type, running up blind alleys, short passing, that they had moved away from during the league, maybe they had played all their football in the league.

Yea, Tyrone Dreamer it reminds me a lot of this time last year when the Tyronies took a more than passing interest in our campaign when they were out early in the summer!!! Looking forward to this clash as I think it will be tight. the 5/2 odds are bound to be slashed as word of these injuries spread. Although with such a "conveyer belt of talent" at Tyrone's disposal they may keep them where they are.  It'll be worth watching for any potential Ricey v geraghty tangles!!! Strictly for over 18s!!!

GAA Discussion / Re: Joe Kernan Resigns

Again, like the vast majority of the Armagh posters, I would like to thank Joe for all that he has done for Armagh football. No other Armagh manager ever got close to winning an All-Ireland, Joe won four, that says it all!

As regards him managing another county I just can't see it.  He is obviously a big family man and I just can't see him leading another county out against Armagh with any of his sons playing in the orange jersey.

Wobbler, you'll find the majority of Armagh fans do appreciate what Kernan did and only for him we may well have had no All-Irelands, he certainly brought the X factor to both Crossmaglen and Armagh, but I'm sure you'll agree (with Pete McGrath in mind) that the Same Voice Syndrome can leave the thing a bit stale. I get the impression that players who would have run through a brick wall for him in 2002 wouldn't do it now.  Puts the feats of Sean Boylan in perspective!!!

I would think the jury's out on Rafferty. This year was a bit of a wipe out but I suppose he could argue that when he came in the injuries started to mount up. I must say that it's not as if Clarke's injury happened two weeks before the championship and really good management would have adjusted our style of play in the forwards as the long high balls that had been so successful with Clarke and McDonnell under them were never going to work as well without Clarke.  The only time that I can remember us varying from this tactic was in the 04 Ulster final when the half forwards were allowed up to support the two man full forward line and we reeked havoc that day. Only M O'Rourke seemed to want to take on his man on Sunday. Pacy forwards who can take on their men and commit other defenders, surely this could have been worked on over the winter.

GAA Discussion / Re: What now for Armagh?
July 10, 2007, 10:07:02 AM
Hank, I really like the look of your team from the half back line up and agree with the fact they need to be given time to bed in over the league campaign next year. Either Aaron Kernan or Charlie Vernon have to be given a half forward slot as we have a shortage in this line and a surplus of good half backs. Your full back line is suspect, I don't think Francie will be back if Joe goes so we'll have to plan without him, so I would slot Kieran Toner and Ciaran McKeever in the full back line. Amazed that they weren't on in the first place!!!

General discussion / Re: UK interest rates up again

GDA, if you're asked for anything more than £250 for advice, tell them to stick it!! There should be no other fees as the valuation fee and legal fees should be paid for by the lender. The only other fee you should watch for is a "deeds release fee" which your existing lender will hit you for should you clear the loan for any reason (i.e. re-mortgaging, moving house or clearing you loan from your own means). that fee should be in the region of £200-£300.
Worth checking with your existing lender to see what rate they'll give you to keep the business, more of them are doing this now.
Don't go for a five year deal like some are suggesting, what appears to be a great rate now may not be so hot in 18 months time, 2 year mortgage reviews would be spot on.

Blasmere, you are more correct than you think you are. The statistic is that since 1999 (with the exception of 2004) any team that put Armagh out of the championship goes on to win the All-Ireland! Put the house on Derry!!
