And so the cycle continues! And they keep voting them back expecting things to be fixed/different/better

They do care, about 4 things in particular:

1. Their salary & all their other earnings, on the side.
2. Their expenses.
3. Getting wee jobs in their constituency offices & various boards / community groups for as many of their relatives/cronies as possible.
4. Their "look at me, aren't I so wonderful?" social media accounts.

Yep that's exactly what I mean. What is it they say - the wrong people to be politicians are the people who want to be politicians.
