Last year, Starmer stopped winter fuel payments.  Months later , he reinstated it.  All because he seen  the writing on the wall after poor  council election results .  And  nothing to do with the  country's finances .

I am glad to report that I actually managed to obtain my 1st ever Winter Fuel Allowance payment just last week [well, half of it, as it had to be split in two between me & my better half, apparently] & I still possess my senior bus pass. I am looking forward to my £10 Christmas bonus payment now. I also can't overlook the fact that the ISA allowance for the over 65s stayed at the £20K annual level too. I say "Huzzah" for our Labour government & may god bless Sir Keir & Rachel for all their efforts over the past 18 months, or so. As long as the Russians/Chinese/North Koreans don't invade, everything is looking very rosy indeed.

If your income is deemed to be over £35,000, HMRC will claw the Winter Fuel Allowance back again.

Presumably the good old Antrim refeeeing expenses cheque won't be as much as that!!!
