For example a rugby player from the Scottish Highlands is a Gael.

I thought Niall Loughlin was superb today. He does so much great work and really put his body on the line to draw contact and lay the ball off to murray for mcevoys goal. Hes an unselfish player. Shane could learn from him. Niall was through on goal and shane chipped it over the bar. I think we had an advantage there too so there was nothing to lose in just laying it off to him.

Agree with all of that. Was one of many things that was the difference in the winning and losing of that game.

I've watched Derry over many years throw games away but that was as sickening a one as it gets. A real kick in the balls.

Somebody said here we missed Mc Faul and that 100% right, someone with a ruthless streak that people are nearly afraid to let down. Chrissy was in the same boat, demanding so much more from everyone around him.
Who is doing that now?

That's a manager's job to talk to his players behind closed doors. Not pricks like you to think he is a big man in front of others and slag off lads.

Bottle, that's what it came down to today. Monaghan's big players stood up and some of ours went into hiding. The pile on for Baker is uncalled for. He does a solid but jot spectacular job and that's what you need your corner back to be doing. I'd be more worried about some of the "bigger names" and what they contributed from half time onwards

Diarmuid and Paul are always a target, you go to any league game this week and someone will be saying worse than what's been said here unfortunately.

Losers side of this draw is fairly interesting, Derry, Tyrone, Mayo, Meath, Louth, Donegal etc. Outside of Donegal who will no doubt turn up the winners side won't know what they're getting on the day

One other thing I would say was the ref gave them a couple of handy frees. The last one was borderline and probably was but there were a few in the second half which gave Monaghan a couple of 2 pointers. I can't remember anything handy we got, and the debacle he made at the end of normal time hardly helped us going into extra time.

Last free even worse when i see it on Tv, that Monaghan man had 3 men round him, he was going nowhere. Derry worse defeat, in the circumstances, since Galway 2001 and Tyrone 1995. By the way whos Derry 2 pt shooters.? Nobody wanted to take them on. Derry lost massive leads last yr in the league and nothing changed.

Galway 2001 was more comparable to the Kerry 2023 game.
In my case Galway 2001 will always haunt me as it deprived me of the experience of going to an All Ireland final as a child.

Baker made a bad error, but he didnt kick 15+ wides, a issue that showed up in the Antrim game. Derry slow the game up, to run set attacking plays through Doherty, some variation is needed.

Call out what you see. Did any of them 3 mentioned have a good game today?
Anyone in the terrace could see Doherty was gone after 10mins of 2nd half.
Did Conor Glass catch 1 ball at midfield all day? What big moments was he involved in? On at least 3 occasions in last 15mins of normal time he was 1 of the 3 left up front!

And just for the record because I'll be getting lumped in with the rest and not liking city players,Baker had a good game today and I wouldn't be blaming him at all.
How Niall Toner doesn't have the game management know how to foul the man that won kickout, give him 4/5metres if he tries tap and go and foul him again. There was 25seconds to go.

Saying we are mentally weak in the height of the game isn't a personal attack for players off field personality etc. nobody questioned their commitment, nobody said they aren't good lads but the fact is when the pressure gets put on, momentum swings and we are in the melting pot it's us that always comes out 2nd best in the last 2 years.

We should have went in at HT 15 points up. So many easy misses in contrast to some ridiculous 2 point efforts from McCarthy, McCarron, McCarville, Ward. Beggan is like a cheat code in the new rules too.

The ref was a joke too, couldn't touch Monaghan without the hand going up for a free or advantage. Ethan had a very untimely slip but he was still pushed for the sideline, mccarron broke the line.

On the plus side McGuckins kickouts were brilliant all day. He hit one towards Beggan which unfortunately led to a goal but it wasn't a howler. Other than that he was flawless and made a great save. Forbes has really stood up this year and put in another good performance. McGrogan was great, he wins so many high pressure short kickouts. Loughlin brilliant all year and was again today. Good to see McEvoy back and his size in the middle was a big plus. Ethan brilliant first 50 min.

Meenagh got it tactically spot on. We dominated Monaghan for most of the game but you can't legislate for those misses. He also can't be blamed for our lack of a bench which will continue to haunt this team in big games.

As sickening a defeat as you can get. Ulster final was there for us. Will be a hard one to recover from.

On Meenagh, he brought mcgurk on for C Doherty and reversed the sub five minutes later, Doherty looked out on his feet. Also held the lad Kearney, who looks have bit about him back to very late in the day when there was tired legs and momentum had shifted other way.
